I feel a little reality check creeping in among the posse! Nothing like facts to keep you in check!

10 clubs will enter in the third qualifying round for non-champions.

Celtic Braga or Gent would be best.......don't fancy a trip to eastern europe or Turkey though. But looking at the teams no one we should be too concerned about.

Almost fell off my chair laughing at this one......enjoy.......

Santos have confirmed they have rejected a bid from West Ham for striking starlet Neymar.

The Hammers have good contacts in South America and they have turned their attentions to the most highly-rated young forward in the region.

Real Madrid have been chasing him for over 12 months and tried but failed to finalise a deal last year, whilst Inter Milan, Manchester City and Manchester United are all well aware of the 18-year-old after tracking his progress closely.

But just like when they beat some of Europe's elite to land Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano in 2006, West Ham are looking to do the same again by signing Neymar.

They have offered an initial £12million (€15million) for the player - which has been rejected.

Santos confirmed they had turned down the bid as they also shunned a similar offer from French giants Lyon for another of their top young players - midfielder Ganso.

"We had offers of €15million for each," Santos sporting director Luiz Nunes Pedro Conceicao confirmed to the Brazilian media.

"We have not had time to formally contact either clubs, but our position is clear.

"We have not, and do not, want to open negotiations to sell either player.

"On several occasions now we have said that we will not negotiate, and this needs to be clear."

Despite the rejection, local sources claim that West Ham are already preparing to return with an offer of £20million (€25million) - which could be enough to persuade Santos.

Reports are also suggesting that West Ham are only seeing the deal as a short-term measure as they will look to move Neymar on after 12 months, with a move to Chelsea in 2011 already being mooted.

These are the two that Dunga decided not to take to South Africa. He'll be popular back home if they don't win the world cup.....

What are we looking at Carmine, Joe Cole, Micah Richards/AN Other, decent centre forward ;).

I think Cole is Old Trafford bound. Richards is a decent player. The interesting scenario is this situation with palermo. This Danish centre back Kjaer is very highly rated, as is the Uraguayan striker. I think these three would be astute buys. especially the dane because we can't go into next season without cover for King and i have doubts if Woodgate will even play again. Richards is also a decent utility player.

Well you cant knock Forlan at least he is a tryer and can score goals out of nothing, same can be said for Gyan although i have my doubts about him in the premier league, Suarez where is he playing at the moment?

EDIT!

Palermo whats this scenario then?

Cavani mmmmm??

A Ghanaian or a Uruguayan would do you!

How many times....we don't want Berbat....oh...yeah the Uruguiyan striker would be a great signing.....I bet the price has rocketed though.

its Cavani were after. Supposedly the price is already agreed.

Cavani is a done deal. Gyan would be great cover but I'd still like to see Suarez come in as well.

Looking back at last year the sides will more attacking threat and proven goalscorers were the winners......its for this reason I reckon Utd and the Arse might struggle next season.....the more decent strikers we have the better imo Of the current crop I'd keep Defoe and Crouch...the rest well.......

Come on 'Arry let's get rid of Jenas Keane Pav and Hutton and spend the money on a top striker......might not be the Uruguayan tho it seems he wants to stay in Serie A.

Does anyone know whats going on with Keane? I can't see where he's going to fit in nw. Pavlyuchenko, Keane, Defoe and Crouch is all very well but i'd rather go into next season with three strikers, chopping Keane and one other and then try and get a superior striker that would be prepared to join us. But i still keep going back to the all important point that we are still only guaranteed two CL games and that is a major stumbling block when a world class player decides who to sign for.

Man City on the other hand will almost certainly buy their way to CL football next season and can offer ludicrous financial incentives for a player to sacrifice a season with no CL football. Rumour has it they have first shout on Neymar when he decides to leave Santos. To put this in perspective we have signed Sandro. A very good player but not marquee.

Reality says we need to go out and find a striker with the potential, like Berbatov, who suprised many by how good he was. (Wait for Utd supporters to throw one in here!) Fact is, the likes of Torres, or the crop of Argentine strikers simply won't join us........atleast for the time being.

Defintley need 4 strikers, but can't really see who we are going to get who is better than we already have unless we break the bank for someone such as Suarez who seems one of the best out there.

Looks like he is waiting on Woodgate before deciding if we need another centre back.

If Dos Santos was to get his finger out that would be a real bonus but i can't reallyy see that happening and obviously Mr Cole would be very helpful.

It seems the Cole issue will be settled by the player when he returns in a week or two. He'd definitely be a good signing for us but not essential. Regarding the strikers yeah I'd agree we need four and it looks like Harry is looking at both Forlan and Suarez......whether we can pay their astronomical wage demands is another matter.

Both Keane and Pav are good players but we need a striker with at least 20 goals a season and they simply won't give us that.

Just have to wait and see........

Suarez would be great, and he could double up as a reserve goalkeeper. :D

Sorry gents but why must we have four strikers? If we are going to make a good account of ourselves next season we need to focus on players of a slightly higher quality. But this i mean the next level down from Villa, Torres and the likes but we do need someone of higher quality than we currently have and if that means having to work with three strikers i'm for it. We'll also be playing a diferent formation for european games won't we.

I think three strikers is fine but the likes of Modric needs to produce more goals than he does and Crouch needs a drastic improvement on his convertion rate, as does Defoe for that matter.

On another note, <deleted> is Dos Santos doing on the payroll. He can pass a ball but he can't pass a nightclub! <deleted>. Why has'nt he been brought into line. I can watch him play well for Mexico in the world cup but he can't get into the reserve side at Spurs because he likes a lie in!!!! What the hel_l is going on? If we were using our squad properly we might be able to save ourselves the considerable expense of Cole's wages......although i'd still like him onboard. ;)

Hopefully someone will offer us a 'World Cup' price and we can be shot of him.

The irony is he looked better than anyone in the England midfield!!!Technically superior. Am i alone in thinking the English players are hopelessly overpriced and over paid. Milner for 30m quid...apart from Money Citeh who is stupid enough to pay that....oh i forgot...Man Utd

It's strange that Ari has mentioned Forlan and Cavenni but not Suarez who is probaly the most natural goalscorer, must mean he is after Suarez ;) , but on saying that couldn't really see him and Defoe playing together.

Ari has implied he will stick with 4-4-2 in the premier league so you need 4 strikers in case of injuries, even with 1 injury still only leaves with 1 on the bench.

OK, i'll go along with that scenario of having four, IF we get into the CL group stages. Suarez would be great no matter how he tries to fit him in.

I noticed 'Arry still has'nt sorted out cover for Gomes. Again, he won't use Alnwick so what's he doing on he payroll.

I thought we were supposed to be careful around a pound!
