Here on Koh Samui i see lots of Durian trees in the mountainous areas, but none on the low country. Does anyone know the reason for this and do Durian grow just as well on flat land.

I am not a Durian expert but I do have some producing trees, I also know some commercial growers in the area.

We are in Buriram; hot, dry and flat.

As long as the trees have plenty of moisture, they are happy.

Anyone know where I could get a durian tree in the Kalasin, Roi-et, Mukdahan area?

I got one from our local Dar-Lart-Nut, our local weekly market only 100 baht, there will be one near you ,or if you have a local agricultural show they will have one .

ask around for a local nursery.

Thank you kickstart, around here they grow lemon trees in concrete pipes for planting in, could you do the same for a durian tree, and do you need more than one for pollination?

Management, the missus, says Durian's will grow in to big trees,,a bit like mangoes,so that would rule out pots/ pipes she says you would need more than 1 ,for pollination, but I would check with Google.
