This song applied to me during my band days back in Scotland.

Since I am of Scottish origin I can respect your roots....and Roy's interpretation of the song - life/strength/lessons .... Roy was a strong man who suffered in life but loved deeply - let us all learn from him.....

What band were you in Scotland? We may have crossed paths, but only in Edinburgh where i lived until 1986.

The richest guy in Edinburgh at the time - there were a few of them. I remember their names, but do not divulge here. Nice, well educated people.

Behind the smile the stranger lies,
Beware of what is in his eyes.
Looks like fun but he's after you,
It's not so funny what that smile can do...

Behind the smile there lies a face
Filled with cunning, but he's full of grace.
Comes on friendly but is deadly too,
Beware or he'll take care of you...

An innocence so well rehearsed
And so naïve,
That's all you ever see.

Behind the smile you cannot see
Lies another full of mystery
Don't be fooled by that friendly grin
The jaws of death are going to call you in...

I played with a few bands from the age of 17 till I left to stay in Thailand. I was the bass player with 'The Memphis Showband', we played a lot of gigs in Edinburgh and down in England before I moved on to American country music and played with a band called 'Cimarron Country Band'.

Yes, I know about 'Simple Minds', but never ever heard them play as it wasn't my kind of music.
