Highway Department to open Pattaya-Maptaphut Motorway bid next month

BANGKOK: -- Highway Department Director-General Chusak Kewi said his department will open the bidding for the construction of the Pattaya-Maptaphut Motorway project in March.

The motorway will be 32-kiometre long and wil be built with the budget of Bt14 billion. He said the project has already been approved by the Cabinet and has passed the environmental impact assessment study.

Most community leaders believe Siam Paragon explosion politically motivated

BANGKOK: -- An opinion survey by the Thai Researchers in Community Happiness Association found that 72.8 per cent of the respondents believe the Siam Paragon twin bomb attacks were related to political conflicts.

The remaining 27.2 per cent of the respondents believe the incident was a general crime. The survey was carried out among leaders of 606 communities nationwide from Thursday to Saturday.

Valentine's Day Again: Time for monitoring love motels

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Permanent Secretary for Interior Ministry Apinan Suethanuwong said provincial governors nationwide have been instructed to have their officials monitor love motels and other hotels on Valentine's Day to prevent children and teenagers from being lured to be sexually abused.

Entertainment venues will also be watched out so that underage people cannot enter. The governors were also ordered to make sure that all hotels and entertainment venues live up to safety standard, Apinan said.
