Lite Beer
Reports: Yingluck Barred From Leaving Thailand By Khaosod Eng. BANGKOK — Thailand’s military junta has reportedly barred former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra from the leaving the country.Several Thai newspapers, including Matichon, have quoted an “unnamed” source as saying that the junta, formally known as the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), has denied Yingluck’s request to travel to Hong Kong.NCPO chairman and Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha refused to comment on the report while he was leaving for a state visit to Japan this morning."Go read the newspapers," Gen. Prayuth told reporters at Don Mueang Airport. "Read what they say."Yingluck was retroactively impeached on 23 January by the junta-appointed National Legislative Assembly, which voted overwhelmingly to ban her from politics for five years for allegedly failing to stop corruption in her administration’s rice-pledging policy. Well, which is it Uncle Too? Today what the news print's is ok with you? But tomorrow... "Don't publish photos of people who violate the law," Gen. Prayuth said at the time. Excellent. Won't have to see photos of an Un-Elected PM. Edited February 8, 2015 by iReason

Popular Post rickirs
The situation with Yingluck is NOT the same as her brother who went to China for the Olympics. He was free on BAIL after having been CHARGED with a criminal offense. Yingluck has not been charged and should be free as any other Thai would be. Her detention is soley due to the power held by the Junta under martial law and Article 44 of the Interim Charter. If the Junta wants to use the rule of law that it touts as being so important to Thai society, it should charge her immediately, grant bail, and forbid her to leave the country. I don't care about whether the Junta is fair; it needs to be consistent. But it is the nature of the rule of law under a Junta-led government that consistency is only measured by the last thought of its leader.

Lite Beer
PM declines to confirm Ms Yingluck was not allowed to leave the country BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha declined to reply a reporter’s question this morning whether former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra was not allowed to leave the country by the National Council for Peace and Order. The prime minister simply told the reporters to go back to read an earlier press report about what the NCPO had said about the issue. He was due to leave for Japan this morning for a two-day official visit.Earlier report said that the NCPO had considered Ms Yingluck’s request for leaving the country and ruled that the planned trip abroad should be delayed as she had already been indicted in connection with the rice pledging scheme by the Office of the Attorney-General.The NCPO’s ruling is in line with General Prayuth’s set condition that the litigation against Ms Yingluck should be taken into consideration of the request to travel abroad. However, Mr Norawich Lalaeng, Ms Yingluck’s lawyer, argued that the former prime minister should not be restricted from making overseas trips as the OAG has not formally charged her in the court. Yeah, because putting someone through a kangaroo court system immediately after the military forcefully overthrows a democratically elected government and shreds the constitution.........where she has absolutely zero chance of receiving a fair trial is awesome. However, she has not been charged so she's basically a hostage. The PM wants democracy for Thailand so he should start by being democratic. Well, considering they (military stacked and appointed legislature) are in the middle or creating a new one, and have not even decided if they will accept public input regarding it........what do you think? Is my statement not accurate? The 2007 constitution is no longer valid, or being used. There is currently an interim constitution, formed by the military. If you actually think my statement was false, I would be interested in knowing why. Edited February 8, 2015 by inbangkok

The Attorney General will submit a subpoena to the Supreme Court on Feb. 19, and wants Yingluck to be present for that, but she want to stay away until at least 22 Feb, so of course she can't go overseas to avoid it. TS will just have to Skype her with instructions on what to say.

No one would be foolish enough to claim the government of Abhisit and Suthep was not corrupt? Right? So its no problem if you think military rule is awesome, but it would be horrible to be a hypocrite concerning "when" military rule is awesome based on which corrupt leader and party is in power.

Before you all go on your high horses, read what the article says. Unnamed source. So you are all so gullible as to believe whatever you hear. Not surprised here.............. Although I would have preferred her to go and disappear and never again hear about her or her brother. Good riddance to her and don't forget to take the rest of her muppet cabinet with her.

Popular Post lewy67
I'd love to see what would happen if the former PM waltzed into the US embassy and claimed political asylum. The US government has already openly stated that the findings against her from both the NACC and the NLA appear to be politically motivated. The US would be obliged to protect her from the anti democratic, military government. Then the fun would begin.
