My 7-Eleven has stopped giving me receipts

It's a promo also certain times of the year they also give you stamps that can be redeemed for items. Just ask for one if you want just to keep them on there toes, you might be getting the correct change now but sooner or later they will have a go at you. I always ask for one and give them to the room maids and the stamps when the promo is on, I don't owe the 7/11 staff anything but the girls that clean my room do appreciate them.

Most likely tired of continually have to sweep the floor where everyone throws them! Look at the cash register display, it shows the amount of your purchase, the amount that you gave them and the change. What mote do you need other than a piece of paper, which is bio-degraeble to litter up the environment!

What more do I need?

Proof that I've paid and not just grabbed something and ran out the door with the bag less goodies only to be held up by some zealous police. I never take a bag but insist on a receipt the lesser of the two evils.

.

Yep.

I know of instances where just that has happened. Though none were in a 7-11.

Still, wouldn't take a chance.

wouldnt wash they got security camera that record everything.. surely youve seen the images in news reports when things go awry

have a cashcard and they will make a point of giving your receipt, and telling you out loud in thai how much remains on your card at some stores.

Suggest that the OP learns some basic Thai.

I always prefer a receipt when making a purchase just in case someone decides to accuse me of not paying for something, so it`s for my own protection. Many times in stores the staff fail to hand me a receipt, sometimes they just leave the receipts dangling in the till or throw them on the floor. I just say; Mi bihn krup (do you have the receipt please). Never had a problem, the staff always hand me a receipt when I ask.

As the wise man says; don`t make a drama, out of a crisis.

Mi bihn krup

I suggest you learn some basic Thai too.

And then they tell you (in Thai): Good for you that you have a receipt and start laughing 5555

I suggest that you learn a little bit more than basic Thai :) Not to offend you, but just pointing out that your Thai sentence is not really correct.

geez, now we have farangs acting as grammar nazis for Thai. What the heck are we lowering ourselves to. Dude, get a life!

As a self confessed obsessive 7/11 promotions expert and stamp saver and the founder of the 7/11 appreciation society I finally fell qualified to answer a post here......

The current promotion (and the last one) is that for every 40B you spend, you get one promotion offer on your receipt which entitles you to purchase one of their promotional discount offers. (TBH as such a good customer and the fact I live next door to a 7/11 and am on facebook terms with all the staff, i dont actually need the receipt to be given the promotion price - bragging over lol)....

You never mentioned whether you used the 7/11 card or not ? Id suggest you do as you can collect points, which also qualify as a cash discount...

Either way, I think they are just keeping the receipts as they dont expect you wealthy sukhumvit felangs to need such discounts ;-)

PS best offer at the moment is sausage and cheese sandwich AND a bottle of Dutch Mill milk for 40B (discount of 11B !!)

This is a good deal indeed. Much better than my 2 baht discount on Meiji milk at Tesco.

I always ask for the receipt if the staff will not give it to me , only had this problem at a few 7 elevens.

I guess you can't read. I wrote: NOT to offend you.

Dude I guess you don't even speak Thai, except the word farang.

If the staff are having to resort to scamming just to make their lives a little easier then i feel sorry for them and i don't care if they are saving a few Baht this way. In the main shop workers here are paid disgustingly low wages.

If people are really upset about not getting a receipt then they can ask for the Manager and complain. At the same time ask them why they pay slave wages that encourages such behaviour.

You are so lucky. I have been trying for years to train them not to give me a receipt. Sometimes they understand, and sometimes they do not. I speak Thai, but they still want me to take it. The owners are not absentee owners. They know if they are being taken advantage of very quickly. Cameras are everywhere. Please do not jump to a conclusion that they are stealing. Maybe enough of us are saying no, and they are trying to respond to your wishes beforehand. I am tired of these silly receipts. Save the paper before I throw it away. Do others take them home and file them? Why?

I wouldn't suggest the Thai you are using above. It doesn't mean what you think it does.

There is also the scam where they scan the goods twice, e.g. two cans of coke instead of the one you wanted. They are then one can up, and can have it with their lunch - I've noticed this happen a couple of times after I've insisted on a receipt. Always an apology and a smile as though it was a genuine mistake.

If you can't total your purchases, shame on you.

I must admit I do not count up my purchases as I go round the 7-11, and would not notice an extra can of coke in the total.

I do it in a bar where I expect scams, 7-11s I thought were cleaner, other than them never giving me the 'stamps'.

Land of scams.

''But if there's some sort of scam going on then I can change my tune and take a hard line.'' OP you sound like an amateur expat. One of the things you need to learn about living in thailand is that its best to mind your own business when it comes to dealing with the thais. Leave your nanny state ideals at home where you came from
