I'm thinking about getting a car alarm combined with a gps tracker that doesn't require some sort of monthly subscription. Is there anything out there that fits the bill? Lazada came up with nothing that I could find on their useless search engine.

You can buy a gsm/gprs tracker. Needs a sim card though but it's a good unit. Send sms commands to the car, gives location and speeds.

Only need to keep it topped up with credit. Uses about 40 baht of month of data if you ain't sending it sms commands otherwise it's costs normal sms rates when it sms's you back with information.

I ended up taking a punt on a unit called Mini GPS SMS GPRS Car Tracker TK103B Vehicle Tracking System w/ Remote Control from ebay. 1300 baht all in and from the youtube review, it seems like it should do what it's supposed to do.
