OLRA to investigate the ownerships of 30 million rai of reform land

The Office of Land Reform for Agriculture has been told by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives to investigate if any of the 30 million rai of land distributed under land reform scheme are actually owned or utilized by real farmers.

Agriculture Minister Pitipong Pungbun na Ayudhya said Monday that if it could be determined that any land plots were owned or utilized by the other people besides farmers, the plots would be seized back and redistributed to landless farmers.

The Office of Land Reform for Agriculture was given three years to finish its job and to report back to the ministry, he added.

The land reform for agriculture committee on Monday decided to designate the OLRA to carry out public hearings throughout the country to gauge the opinions of members of the public about the draft of an amended land reform law.

interesting, wonder how many plots have been sold off to the rich, lets hope they dont give it back to anyone that has sold their plots or better yet it has to stay in the govts name as owners, farmers can only utilize it and have no authority to lease/sell it off

Hope they have consulted the camel herder and his lackie's if this is acceptable to their way of thinking, if not, should they wait on his seal of approval before commencing their investigation.

It is a known fact that when Suthep was Agricultural Minister he gave land to rich friends on Phuket that was earmarked for poor farmers. He resigned his portfolio to avoid being impeached, so what as this to do with an imaginary camel herder. rolleyes.gif

Three years to finish the job.

This will mean that the new elected government will have plenty of time to bury this job (forgotten by then) and leave it's mates to continue 'ownership' of the land they stole from the well intended scheme in the first place. This is a scandal of huge proportions.

You really should try to get some balance in your posts.

As part of the Sor Por Kor 4-01 land reform scheme he gave 592 land title deeds from the hills of Phuket province to 489 farmers, 11 turned out to be wealthy families in Phuket.

So of 592 land titles 11 were given to families which had money, the rest went to those who were classed as poor and specifically those who had been pushed off forest land.

It should be noted that no one since then has had the courage to tackle land reform although the Dems did propose it during the Abhisit Govt but that was dropped when PT took over.

And anyway what has Suthep to do with the OP ?

What has the 'camel herder' got to do with the OP? I suppose bringing him into it is ok though...... as long as its a dig at PTP its fine with you, but as soon as its a dig at Democrats its offtopic.gif.pagespeed.ce.ifZtFTWxj3Br0M

Have a bit of consistency. We know your blindingly biased but at least have the pretense of being able to think reasonably.

"to investigate if any of the 30 million rai of land distributed under land reform scheme are actually owned or utilized by real farmers."

I love the phrasing of this, the implied assumption that it will only be in exceptional cases, that any of this land might still lie with real farmers, rather than rich investors or other people of influence. blink.png

Cynical, or merely realistic ? facepalm.gif

Where did I mention a camel herder ?

I simply pointed out the truth, if you cant handle that due to your bias then that is your problem.
