I was at the border in Satun today and tried to cross the border and return so I could stay another 2 weeks in Thailand. I was told if I left the country I'd not be allowed back in and should go to Krabi immigration to extend my visa. I am only on a visa exemption (visa on arrival) at the moment. I have a flight from Hong Kong to Canada for March 6 so I will for sure be leaving the country in two weeks. Can anyone confirm to me that you are able to extend a visa on arrival at Krabi immigration? If so for how long and at what cost?

You have a visa exemption entry, not visa on arrival.

You can extend it for 30 days for Bt 1,900, as you would have found reading one or two pages of this forum before asking or shipping yourself to the border.

Visa exemption sorry. It's called something different in every country but the one you receive when you fly into Thailand and have 30 days stay for free. I'd really appreciate comments that aren't condescending as I've learnt my lesson and only found out about this forum today.

You can get an extension for 1,900 baht without any problems.

You will need to bring a copy of your passport (ID-page and pages with relevant stamps) and a copy of you departure card.

You could apply tomorrow.

Forgot to add: my friends visa expired today will he be able to extend as well despite being and overstay? We are aware of the 500B per day fine but can his still be extended? Thanks

Normally no problem, he will just have to pay the 500 baht fine for overstay first and then get the extension.
