iReason
The Bangkok Post reports that police have so far failed to arrest anyone involved in illegal gambling at Tao Pun, despite raiding it on four previous occasions. "the title deeds list the owner of the property to be a street food vendor." P.S. Are we now able to link to the Bangkok Post?
Phuketboy
Everyone knows who owns the casinos. The problem is, we can't even talk, so how are the police suppose to arrest?
cookee68
Well arrest the vendor then, and lets se what names he or she comes out with, because we all know that Thai people cant keep quiet when the CHIPS are down,

The Deerhunter
Riddle: Name a place where people walk in hoping for the best, prepared for the worst, and always leave with empty pockets. Yes, you guessed it. What, a Police station? Oh!!!

joboss
Many more petty crimes will be comitted just to be arrested, i can just see it now. ''Hey sergeant Nit, Noy is annoying me can you come over and arrest me please and oh, put me in for say 3 days, thanks'' Haha.. And the cops could raid the gogo bars, arrest a bus load of ladies, and put them in the “cells”.
ericthai
I have a novel Idea. Why not just legalize gambling and open some casinos in Thailand All the tourist areas sans Bangkok. It will generate tremendous revenue for Thailand. I know There are those who argue that locals will get hooked on gambling but you know they are already gambling either on line or with illegal forms of gaming in the country. So bring it under control and that way you can also control gamblers Bar the ones that are having problems from the casinos. I think this is a win win for everyone. Have tax revenues to go to real causes that need to be looked after This has been proposed many times over the years and always gets resistance from the top monks and then the typical politicians that jump on any band wagon that will make them look good support no casinos and it gets shot down. Plus all the police that make money from accepting bribes from illegal dens and gamblers would be lost so they also support no legal casinos. Most Thai's that want to gamble take the free buses to the border casinos.

JMWPACIFIC
You can't make this stuff up! Only in Thailand.
captspectre
Oh the irony who is/was running the Illegal casino? it has been there for a long time. me thinks that the police or politicians have an interest in it. they can raid a home with three people playing cards and haul them off to the slammer but they cannot seem to haul anyone to the slammer in the casino raid. just another show of hypocrisy! Have tax revenues to go to real causes that need to be looked after A good idea in theory But the Government have to raise the salaries of many Police, Politicians and Army who generate huge income from either owning the Casinos or being paid to turn a blind eye. Plus there are many "People of influence and Power" who can't be touched who are involved in the operation of Casinos. All the Army has to do is ask any Bangkok Taxi driver and they all know where the Casinos are, and who runs them. My Thai ex used to go to one off Petchburi Road ( Soi 7 from memory ) and she said it would never be raided as it was owned by some-one who was untouchable. So not likely to have Government run Casinos any time soon. Only the army are untouchable now - if you consort with dogs don't be surprised if you get fleas.
