Spot on , they have no way to assess the civil works until the Alignment is submitted and as you say it will not be the same at a minimum in the curve and transition

And then there's the electrical aspect. Where will the power come from to power everything? They will require a huge amount of electricity to get those sets up to cruise speed and only a small amount can be recovered by dynamic braking.

Maybe there will be capacitor banks built into the system to handle the load for the first 30 seconds??? cheesy.gif

By any standard (Other than China) its a massive project for this country, I can see 10 years to complete. Ballast track isn't going to take long to install but the civils , Tunnels , Viaduct, plus as you mention the Traction current and signaling are going to add significantly to the program

Not sure everyone will be happy with this statement, as if non-Chinese tourists are either not allowed or apparently not going to be travelling between Kunming and Thailand via Laos: "The 1.435-meter-wide, dual-track rail system will shuttle Chinese tourists and cargoes between Kunming, capital city of Yunnan province in southern China and the northeastern and eastern regions of Thailand."

Thailand has not been capable (SRT) of running the trains they have now for the 24 years I have been using them.

Spend the money on knocking them back into shape & stop all the monies disappearing from the present money wasting railways.

Reapproprattion of all that land they are sitting on would raise billions

Memo to "LAPD" regarding the Pattaya tunnel project. I agree there is a desperate need for traffic improvement and there is a bottleneck where the tunnel is being built. But, without surrounding road work being done first, building one tunnel is only going to shift the bottleneck. The money would have been better spent to improve traffic intersections, turn lanes and U-Turn lanes, improve the Railroad road by getting the traffic signals working and improving the intersections, and , especially, by adding much needed connecting roads between the major roads to give people more ways to get from one place to another. You mention the high speed rail station being located on the other side of Sukumvit. One of the points I made was there is no public transportation in Pattaya so how are these hoards of rail riders going to get anywhere once they reach Pattaya? Get on the back of a motorcycle taxi? With limited resources the BASICS need to be done first before buying an expensive toy like a high speed train or a single tunnel.
