My neighbour had bought a car in 2012 under the first time car buying scheme.

She would like to sell her car for personal reason, for me no problem what the reason is, the car is interesting and the price looks fair, Toyota vigo top model for 700K.

But while talking in a bar i heared that when one buy a car under the scheme the person will not be able to change te name of the car when selling it, they have to wait for 5 years before the name cn be transfered.

Does anyone can confirm that?

I mean she knows she will have to pay the tax back to the government, so it should be more than logic that once the tax paid back she should be able to change the name of the car as well when sold, or is it again an world upside down logics from Thais?

Can anyone help on this one?

Many thanks in advance.

She pays the rebate back to the excise tax dept. in turn they remove the transfer of ownership block on the car.

Not so difficult.

Remember she have to pay the tax back BEFORE they remove the name block.

I wouldnt buy the car before that happens, atleast not pay the last 100.000

Yes, don't be tempted to facilitate this by lending her the money!

Rule no1 here, don´t trust anyone but yourself.

It is 4x4 with an automatic transmission and has cruise control, reverse camera and leather seats.

You think 700k is too mutch?

Initially she started at 800k she say she paid nearly 1 mil. For it.

She paid about 1M. All the TOR Pickups were around that in early 2012. I think all had leather seats,GPS, Bluetooth, reverse camera etc etc. Isuzu don't have cruise control though.

How many Kms ... full Toyota Services? Non skipped?

I think 700K is right at the top if not above ... she is desperate ...you aren't. I think that the insurance will value it at 625K.

Knowing the history is good. I'm sure there are others on this forum who can value it for you. I assume no accidents and it's absolutely immaculate inside and outside.

I don't think that people will be queuing up to buy it ....

I expect that she financed it ... better check!

Think i did forgot to ask about the financial stuff, although i think it will be very likely that she has one. The car has +/-65000Km.

If she has a financial on the car, how does that work out then?

If it's a 2012 Vigo 4x4 3.0L AT 4-door, sure 700K is still an OK price for one in very good condition (no panel damage, scratches, breakages, full history), even in this economic climate.

Make sure it's a 4x4 though... the RWD version (Prerunner) 4-door 3.0L is only worth about 600K - and the 2.5L version about 80K less again.

Sorry, I'm not sure but I believe it needs sorting before sale. Why not start a new topic on buying a car which is financed.

Here consider this, it even has an electric boot and 20,000Baht window filmj!

So if 700k is just an OK price OP should look for one not in the first time scheme.

I tried to get some off of the price but that was the reason why she wouldn't smile.png

If you trust her, you can drive with her number plates and with the car still in her name

and she has not to pay back the =First car owner schema money=

Just write a contract and sign it with her, only the date of the contract stays free, dated to your liking,

normally after the 5 year period ran out.

The car ownership book stays with you.

Only possible if the car is paid full already and not still financed.

If its financed that financing has to be paid back with the money you purchase the car,

so you can get the ownership book, also still in her name, but, see above. rolleyes.gif

In that way you can, possibly, also negotiate the price a bit more.
