Moral Promotion Center has hope and some concern for Thailand's future

BANGKOK, 13 March 2015 (NNT) – The Moral Promotion Center, which is a public organization, today held a press conference stressing that society needs stronger morality as an organization spokesperson said there has been a growing number of cases of questionable behavior among Thai people.

Mr. Poldej Pinprateep, the Chairperson for the 7th National Moral Assembly, stressed that the work of the present temporary military government is cleaner, especially regarding corruption cases. He also mentioned that since next year’s general election is assumed to take place on either February or March 2016, the Thai public should consider three criteria when considering candidates. These include the following: 1. Elected officials should have an honest livelihood in which their source of income and occupation must be clearly identified. 2. Elected officials must pay taxation to the government and must be honest and transparent about the amount of their income and must pay taxation according to the money they have received 3. Elected officials must have clean history and no criminal records.

Mr. Poldej stated that if Thais choose a leader who possesses good morality, and does not simply vote for people from according to a certain party or due to their fame, Thai society will be better.

The Moral Promotion Center also proposed that Thai society should improve its overall morality in other ways. The organization has identified 49 agencies of all sorts that can help uplift the morality of Thai society including spiritual leaders from all religions, major ministries, public organizations such as the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Thai Health, The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), The electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGA), The Thai Chamber of Commerce, The Royal Thai Police, and top universities as well.

The Moral Promotion Center also has proposed a "Moral Village", a "Good Moral Hospital", and other projects, and these and other related topics will be further discussed in the 7th National Moral Assembly, a biannual event that will take place this coming 25-26 March at The Government Complex on Chaengwattana Road.

For those who would like to learn more about morality, they can contact The Moral Promotion Center (Public Organization) office by calling 02-644-9900 or www.moralcenter.or.th

The two main groups that should be setting an example have been showing throughout Thai history that they have no morals so neither do the people. I am of course referring to the politicians and the monks who both show that "Money number one". Hey maybe that would be a good book title.

I'm amazed with Thais.

They know everything.

They can identify everything that is wrong.

They can make plenty of proposals how to rectify things.

They give plenty of speeches about what is wrong and how they will change that into good.

But they never do anything to turn what is wrong into right.

A society of big mouths with no substance.

How long have you been in Thailand?

Guess you have not learned that Thailand is perfect

Thais are perfect

Always right and never wrong

They all live in their own little bubbles

The only concern I have is this so called Moral Promotion Centre, who's job is it to go about forcing moral views on somebody else , these people should get a real job, my moral experience is of nobody's concern except mine , mind your own bloody business, moral up-bringing starts at home, not listening to some trumped up persona spewing garbage that the junta likes to hear.coffee1.gif

Just because you put Moral in the title dosen't make it moral. An example: Thailand's counter Corruption unit, is just as corrupt as those it is charged to get rid of. Same with Royal Thai Police is has an air of honesty, ethical. But we know the opposite to be true you can have a hard time counting on one hand the number of police who don't take bribes. This is a disgrace to police the world over.

I believe your observation is focused on to small an area of humanity and that a more inclusive statement that does not discriminate would be:

The two main groups that should be setting an example,

have been showing throughout History that they have no morals

so neither do the people.

I am reffering, of course to (Nearly) all politicians and practicioners of all religions worldwide forever

showing that "Money number one".

I wouldn't be surprised if they hired the same website developer who came up with "The Happy Toilet" concept

"an organization spokesperson said there has been a growing number of cases of questionable behavior among Thai people."

cheesy.gifcheesy.gifclap2.gif

…there has been a growing number of cases of questionable behavior among Thai people.

Let’s call it “Chinofication” assuming there is a lot more to come in the near future (by train) so no Thai would lose face over this.

The Moral Promotion Center also has proposed a "Moral Village", a "Good Moral Hospital"

Good Moral Hospital- what does that mean? Do I have to expect burqa-nurses around my dying bed?

I hope they don’t build their little Vatican too close to government house- dispute with disagreeing neighbors often get very nasty these days…

I want to be the first to do an interview with the Major of this Village and hope he/she has the guts to bring his/her flawless resume and criminal record certificate along.

Wouldn't that be 'Sinofication'? ;)

Elections have always been a popularity vote. Who is the charming, handsome, intelligent, candidate that possess the charm in manners. The Ability to do the job, and self esteem to promote others to think terms of the better of the Country, is the last thing on their peers mind. They want a nice looking PM they can be proud of. But we all really know the out come. It will be the strongest party in both houses. Exchanging favors and cutting deal as to who will be next PM. But the big question is who is left after all the impeachments of Senators whom is standing in the mist with clean hands?

Hey MPC......is it morally right to charge some people 10 times the amount to enter your national parks? What's the difference from one body to the next....they all take up the same space?????

Is it morally acceptable to charge foreigners 2x 3x or 10x more than a thai person when shopping? or buidling a home? What about your Royal Thai Police "requesting" coffee money from people they pull over for a traffic infraction??? Is this your high standard of morality? If Thailand is a democracy....how can someone stage a coup and take over the country and then appoint themselves PM all in the name of democracy? Morals....where....show me. You have no word for integrity....I am certain that you are also translating morality incorrectly.

When you have a society that is 90% Buddhist, requires the Head of State to be Buddhist, promotes and protects Buddhism, and still needs a Moral Promotion Centre to provide moral guidance, something is not right. Maybe it is Buddhism that is failing to provide 21st century morality.

Great! Since all the prosecutions are retroactive now -- they should retroactively do the same criteria check for the current government members.....maybe djjamie can tell us why that won't happen.

N

OK, cure the cameras, play Auld Lang Syne, and this time focus on the old lady dabbing tears seven times.......that will fix everything. But that annoying headline..."Some Concern".....maybe it means some concern is that people will elect non-elites again, which is foolish because the elites have done so much for the poor here...
