Ford Everest - All New 2015

The Pajero vs MU-X thread was very helpful to me as I've now completely discounted the Isuzu and decided on the Pajero 4Wd (even if I don't use the 4WD often it does add some value).

However, I just saw the Ford Everest, which looks better than the Pajero. For one, it is a new model. More importantly, though, it has more airbags.

Have any of you checked it out or driven pne? Thoughts?

I have the top of the line Everest 2012. I really like it, but as konying says Ford in Thailand has had some issues on new products. They have been known to sell things that were broken and then taken a year plus to get the parts to fix them. That being said, it could happen to any company I guess.

The new Everest does look neat, but I also like the big boxxy look of the older version. People move out of your way faster when you look bigger:)

You can get a used one for well under 800,000 Baht.

I'm not sure it's being sold yet, but it is on the Ford web site. Price for the 4WD is about 30,000 baht cheaper than the equivalent Pajero model.

Someone told me that the Fords in Thailand are actually quite good in terms of reliability. I don't have any personal experience with Thailand Fords.

Given Ford's previous form with the Ranger release, I guess you can expect to take delivery anywhere from 6-24 months after it's actually released :)

BTW: Where do you see these prices that were 30K less than the PJS? AFAIK, Ford have not yet released any official pricing.

There are a lot of stories on here about issues with the Ranger 3.2L. On the other hand, there are also a lot of Ford haters on here who don't own Fords or haven't owned them for a long time but always sound off about how bad Ford Thailand is.

I can offer my personal experience only with Ford Thailand. One year ago, I bought a new top model Ecosport. It has been perfect in every way, not a rattle, glitch, or anything wrong. The service has been excellent. Recently, I went for the first service at 15,000km, price was an extremely reasonable 2200, including the oil change, which unlike other makes, is only required every 15k, so saves money. We got a follow up after service phone call asking us how the service was. New service department works up to the standard I see at my Honda dealer. At that service, I had a question about the aircon (lots of new tech on this one), and the mechanic went out on a drive with me to instruct me. (BTW, another member on this board who bought one same time as I did sent me a PM and also confirmed his experience similar to mine).

I also bought a new Everest when they first came out in 2004, but only kept that for 3 years. It was also perfect in every way, never any service issues or faults. I admit though, that that old platform is very dated, and would not recommend buying the old model as this all new one promises to be the best in class if claims are true.

That's unfortunate. Everywhere on the website they label it as the "New Everest". Oh well. But even as the old 2014 model, it still seems to compare favorably to the 2014 Panjero.

The old everest is way behind the pajero. It would be worth to compare the 2.2 everest vs the top spec pajero, as I think they will be priced similarly. I'd really want the big engine (3.2) though, If I was driving that monster! For that king of money, you could get a new camry/teana/accord. Much nicer around town.

It's competitive with other SUV's in that price range, CRV / Chevvy / Fortuna.

You'll get a bog standard Camry / Teanna / Accord for that price i'd imagine, as you say though much easier around town.

I looked at full option Camry ( albiet several years ago ) but i'm sure it was pushing 2M.

the 14 model Everest is very ordinary. If I was in the market I would go for the PJ as it is only ordinary vs very ordinary.

I've never driven the current Everest, but it has been around since 2004 (there could have been a model change along the way), but it hasn't changed all that much. I've driven my BIL's PJS a few times and quite like it. But for 1.3M, I'd be waiting to see what the new 2.2 ranger can dish up. This looks the business http://car.kapook.com/view104515.html

The current "All New" Everest, Pajero and Fortuner are all based on pick up designs from around 2004. All have had minor updates to interior and engines etc. Mitsu and Toyota did a better job of the PPV version than Ford. The Everest is a good reliable vehicles but the suspension, steering, interior design and crash test rating are not as good as the PJS Fortuner. The Everest 4WD system is part time only so not much use on sealed roads.

The Everest resale value is not as bad as some TV Ford haters suggest but it is likely to drop when the new Everest based on the current Ranger is released. The Fortuner and PJS may also suffer the same problem soon. Why not consider the newer Trailblazer or MU-X?

Several people on this forum have driven the MU-X and all of them did not like it.

I would like a Nav system and rear camera, and the least expensive Trailblazer with those features is about 1.5m. I can get a Pajero 4wd for about 1.2m, after discount. The Chevy doesn't seem to be worth an extra .3m (to me).

Last Friday evening I saw a "New" Everest on Silom around 7pm, dark blue. Grey market?

The "All new Everest" is not available yet - so if it looked like the car below it may be a pre-production one being tested - as it's built in Thailand so there may be a few about.

But there's also the "little bit new Everest" which is the old model with a curvier nose and slightly different rear lights - and that's a run-out facelift model that was on sale late last year.

Yea that was it I think, dark blue only saw it in passing as I was up on the skytrain walkway between the mrt at Silom but saw the badge on the front.

Not so sure I'd want a 1st year issue US manufacturers vehicle.....

Ford itself has service problems in the states with multiple TSBs issued over existing same concern TSBs.....that's one reason for "new technology" when they really never sorted out the problems of some of their already present systems......so - not sure how it might play out here 12-15,000 miles away....

Given that - 2nd thoughts would be the experienced actual Thai tech specialists for phone tech assistance....I'd imagine the hands on experienced dedicated phone support techs would be an extremely shallow pool - let alone the lost in translation thing......

To be fair the Ranger has been with us for more than 3 years now so the drive line is reasonably sorted (not that it does not have issues but fixes are now known).

The rest of the Everest from the B Post forward is also basically sorted as well but the Everst does have new electronic gizmo's that are yet tried and tested so could possibly provide some greif.

From the B post back there is not really much that ford could get too wrong (one would hope).

Probably was the 2015 Everest you saw - it officially launches later this month.
