According to the Department of Mineral Resources’ Earthquake Monitoring Centre, the quake occurred at 15:06 and originated on land at a depth of 10 kilometres. The epicentre was located approximately 132 kilometres northeast of Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai, and was attributed to movement along the Jinghong Fault, a left-lateral strike-slip fault known for seismic activity in the region. Residents in Mueang Chiang Rai, Mae Sai, Mae Lao, Wiang Chai and Mae Chan districts reported experiencing noticeable tremors. However, there have been no reports of damage or injuries as of yet.
