How long for divorce and procedure?

Featured Replies

Couple married in Thailand 3 years ago, she went to UK with him. Husband a complete jerk, now she has returned to Thailand. She wants a divorce he does not, he is still in the UK. What are her options, does she have to wait two years then proceed on grounds of being split up, or is there a quicker way?

are you the other guy? if you know her husband that will make it easyer to believe her.

if not tread carefully.

do you know if the marriage was registered at the local ampher or not,ask to see the marriage certificate.

she wants,he doesnt, could be costly,if he doesnt want to play ball.

so just check out the story before you commit yourself.

Not the other guy but I know them both, registered at Amphur in Bkk. He is jobless and potless, lives with his parents, she is just pissed off with him and and came back.

For desertion, the person deserted can file for a divorce after one year. Since you say that she left him then it would seem that this does not apply here.

Divorce can be instigated by either party after three years of voluntary separation. This would have to be done through the courts. There are other grounds but whether they would apply in this case I do not know.

Grounds for divorce are covered in section 1516 of the Thai Civil and Commercial Code.
