Lee Kuan Yew was apparently a Thaksin admirer and explained the Thai political situation on Thaksin termsThaksin was a reformer who wanted only to help the poor, the army upset his good work, and Thaksin was destined to return

Lee was never into religion. Should he had, he would know that Satan often reveal himself as an Angel of Light.

I think on these occasions there is not much chance of a person going along as an individual will bump into Prime Ministers and Presidents whilst having a few at the Wake

Correct. The premise of the story is just an opportunity to yank the general's chain. Total silliness.

Its also an insult to the readers intelligence. In all reality these 2 men are deadly enemies and these mongs are trivializing the remote possibility that they might meet like some syrupy Teen magazine

That notwithstanding, the fact that there are more similarities than differences between the two is becoming more apparent by the day.

Wow. They have a lot in common too with both Prayut and thaksin running the country without a mandate from the people.

Of course Prayut never put up the charade that he was democratic. Only that he was restoring democracy because the former ran the country without a mandate from the people under the banner of democracy.

Crikey, Jamie stumbles at the gate of obsessive Prayuth adulation. Even in his world of half truths our not-so-good general is increasingly tainted.

Thaksin needs to be very careful he could be asked, on behalf of the Thai Government, to hand over his illegal Thai passport.

Yeah i am sure that has him quaking in his boots.................

He's got a few others to use, just in case.

Amazing, billionaires welcome.

Thaksin will not attend the official ceremony because he was not invited

In reality the two were known to be close so every liklihood he was invited.

Of course you'd know all this. Told you Thaksin was a good bloke no doubt.

I'm sure Thaksin's PR machine will claim that. Just like they tried to link him to Nelson Mandela. Anything to try and legitimize the criminal.

Thaksin - a reformer who wanted to help the poor. yeah right.

Wonder how long it took Mr. Lee to see through him? Fairly quickly I should think.

Thaksin being paid the respect of recording his name as an official attendee of the funeral.

"All 10 heads of member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) have been invited to the funeral, including Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, who seized power in a bloodless coup last year.

There were unconfirmed reports saying Thaksin Shinawatra, an ousted Thai prime minister now living in exile as a fugitive, would also be at the funeral."

From today's South China Morning Post.

And the source of your picture and statement that Thaksin is an official attendee is ?

Er, no need because LKY was on record as having higher regard for Thaksin than any other Thai politician.

Is it my imagination but are not the little band of military cheerleaders getting even more hysterical than normal? Perhaps it's not surprising as the object of their adoration has become an international embarrassment and laughing stock.

C'mon Surapong tell the truth for once in your life.

Thaksin will not attend the official ceremony because he was not invited as he is a criminal on the run.

The only one that still cares about him are his lapdogs the so called red leaders.

The official ceremony invite list is restricted to family, Singapore government officials, close friends of the deceased and selected foreign country representatives. The protocol is the same in most countries when there are state funerals. If everyone was allowed in it would be a mob scene.

Why do you distort the truth?

So, why would Thaksin be present? Why would the Singapore government want to risk a possible diplomatic incident involving a private foreign person and an officially invited dignitary?

The family provides a list of family invitees. However, it is more likely that Thaksin will show to provide his condolences along with thousands of others. If he was known to the family it will be allowed. He may have to wait in line with the other hisos and make small talk. Thaksin would not be an invitee of Singapore government. As I stated, there is a protocol. Official invitees of the government can only be drawn from a select list of government officials representing other countries, or close allied nation retired or former leaders who had a close relationship with the deceased. Singapore isn't going to piss off Thailand over this. If Thaksin shows, it will be as a guest of the family.

You already asked the family? More likely Thaksin will show up because

"Members of the public can pay their respects at the Lying-in-State of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the Hall, Parliament House. It will be open 24 hours daily from today to Saturday 28 March 2015, 8pm."

THE NATION

Former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra signs a message of condolence at the Singapore Embassy in Bangkok yesterday at the passing away of former Singaporean prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.

BANGKOK: -- FORMER PRIME minister Thaksin Shinawatra will at least greet Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha with a smile if their paths should cross in Singapore on Sunday at the state funeral of Lee Kuan Yew, a former Pheu Thai MP said yesterday.

Surapong Tovichakchaikul said Thaksin intended to go to Singapore to pay his respects to Lee's family. He may not be present at the official function but he will attend the portion of the funeral that is open to the public.

"It is unlikely that he will meet General Prayut, who will also attend the event on Sunday. However, if they meet, Thaksin is expected at least to greet him with a smile," he said.

Surapong was speaking yesterday at the Singaporean Embassy in Bangkok after signing a book of condolences for Lee. He was joined by former prime ministers Yingluck Shinawatra and Somchai Wongsawat.

Lee, the founding father of Singapore and also the father of current Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, died on Monday. He was 91.

The smile will be one of joy as he has probably been watching prayuth stumble and make a fool of himself on a daily basis. Thaksin knows the world is laughing at prayuth and his antics.

Because Thaksin has probably very close ties with Singapore, given their huge transactions, and they are thinking of the Funeral first and Thailand second if at all.

Don't they have an extradition treaty with S'pore?

Anyway they should ask for arresting T.

He is a criminal and not arresting him when it is possible is against the law

Thai political based laws do not apply outside of Thailand. Being a criminal in Thailand does not necessarily make you one in other countries
