The people who complain about them are only proving that they themselves are PC idiots. I use the word wop to a friend and paddy to another, even kraut to another one and they call me a tight fisted jock git. Horror of horrors, I've even called one a sassenache. PC is having a very negative effect on the whole world and it was good to hear Clarkson try to make a joke of it, I honestly don't believe he meant any of it seriously. As yet I haven't seen reported what the recipient of the "smack in the mouth" said to him. Perhaps, and my words only, he deserved it, who knows. Put this into context ... the BBC is a public funded entity whose fees are generated by Royal Charter .... shouldn't the fans be the ones to decide his fate and not a liberal progressive whose head can be most found up his own backside when not brown nosing in Westminster. Try asking people who have worked behind the scenes in TV about some of the behaviour that comes forth from the Stars or the execs and the shit they get put through. Yes, amazing that there are so many morons around. A million of them signing a petition basically saying that Clarkson should be treated differently than lesser mortals because they like him on the telly, basically saying that he should have the freedom to verbally abuse and physically assault his junior colleagues. Many of these supporters actually issuing death threats against the victim! They should be traced and dealt with firmly. The idea that Clarkson will now go to a commercial channel and be a roaring success with his same format is nonsense. Does anybody seriously believe that he would have got away with slagging off perfectly competent cars in the name of 'comedy', or his ongoing casual racism on a commercial channel? Advertisers would have pulled the rug from under his career years ago. The BBC is a public service broadcaster which doesn't have to tip their cap to outside commercial interests. The truth is Clarkson needed the BBC far more than they needed him. He will go the same way as Chris Moyles, Des Lynam, Jonathon Ross, even Morecambe and Wise, to name but a few who all thought the grass would be greener, but soon found out the reality was different. To all you Clarkson fanboys, what level of offence do you think he should be fired for if not assault? How far would you let him go before you stopped hero worshipping him and seeing him as a great 'dude'. I have not seen the contract so I cannot say for sure but it certainly would not be unusual neither would overnight accommodation when and if required. I don't get why people are angry at the BBC over this, they're only doing what any other employee would do. If you're upset about this, Clarkson himself is the one you should be angry at - he's the one to blame for the demise of your beloved Top Gear. He's brought this about through his own actions alone. I think at this stage it's just a matter of which American network they will move to and how long it will be before the show is relaunched. FYI there is already a Top Gear (US version) with three presenters Adam Ferrara, Rutledge Wood and Tanner Faust who are basically a bit like the three on the Beeb. For me it doesn't work at all. I guess they might just attempt a new format with Hammond and a couple of new presenters, but to be honest even that seems unlikely. I reckon a complete rethink of the show is overdue anyway. He and his wife bought an old lighthouse on the Isle of Man. Closed a public footpath (illegally) because they did not want people looking in on them. Big prick got a strop on because he was hungry, assaulted a producer, should be charged and hopefully jailed. Thinks he is bigger/better than others, time he was brought down a peg or two. Given she is the daughter of a Manxman who earned a VC at Arnhem I would hope the Manx Govt found a compromise that suited all parties. I worked for the BBC for many years, every 'entertainment' program they make has loads of producers and assistant producers. Then I worked for some ITV companies, Channel 4 did it too. Some of them even work for free in order to gain experience. I hated working with the unpaid youngsters working for nothing, yes we used them to fetch, carry and do all the odd jobs.
