BANGKOK, 26 March 2015 (NNT) – Brunei Darussalam has agreed to promote bilateral cooperation with Thailand in various areas, including energy, agriculture, halal food and fishery, during the visit of the Thai Prime Minister.

As part of his two-day visit to Brunei between March 25 and 26, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha stated that he has had a chance to receive an audience with the Sultan of the country. The premier gave an update to His Majesty concerning the Thai political situation, saying all reform procedures are being conducted in an efficient and timely manner. The Sultan then offered Gen Prayut moral support for his work and commended him for promptly taking control of the political turmoil in the country.

On this occasion, various fields of cooperation between the two countries were discussed. In energy, Brunei expressed willingness to support Thailand in the production of energy from crude oil while Gen Prayut had earlier met with the Bruneian Minister of Energy for related talks.

In agriculture, the two sides agreed on joint contribution to food security, promotion of agricultural products and reduction of price competition within the ASEAN region. The premier also noted that the country has doubled its import of Thai rice from 20,000 tons to 40,000 tons.

Furthermore, Gen Prayut said Brunei will lend its expertise in halal food to Thailand in order to conduct more research and raise product quality together. Brunei is also considering opening its waters to other countries for fishery cooperation and the Sultan has assured that Thailand will receive consideration for such privilege.

Hello BRUNEI, welcome back to the stone age of Barbarism.

Great that Thailand is partnering with such a lovely country. More pleasant things to come, I am sure....

Anthony Burgess, (Clockwork Orange etc) wrote a novel, based on his 3 year stint as a teacher. The novel entitled 'The Devil of a State' is the only book banned in Brunei. It's hilarious and a good read. I lived there (after he 'escaped' by feigning a brain tumor) for seven years. Brunei is a village that Sultan Hasanal Bolkiia declared he is building a nation. The nation is roughly 100km x100km in size with about 250,000 indigenous locals. In fact if you were flying over Brunei and blinked you'd miss it it's so small. After 1987 following some discontented citizen placed pamphlets decrying the Bolkia's hedonistic life style, the place became a Islamic State. All alcohol drinks were banned, including affecting the country's airline Brunei Airlines serving only soft drinks etc. I couldn't wait to get out of the place and although despite my family's insistence I see a trick cyclist due to my long time there I know I'm alright alright. There's nothing wrong with me wrong with me....seriously

That's actually because, in truth, he's skint!

Edit: 2 tramps sharing a bench, and all that.

Brunei foreign investments number several higher end hotels which used to cater to the elites of the fashion and entertainment industry. When Brunei introduced its suspension of human rights for homosexuals, the hotels which used to host fashion shows and awards dinners were boycotted. It is quite something when a conservative like Jay Leno comes out to join a protest in front of a hotel. The general of Thailand had best heed the old adage about lying down with dogs who have fleas.

The Sultan of Brunei can take his sharia law and halal food and stick it where the sun don't shine as far as the majority of Thais are concerned. The General and others should stop trying to appease and play to the southern population of Thailand who have been stalwart supporters of the Democrat party and previous military coups.
