I from the US, 53 yo. I plan to use a visa service to get a tourist visa for Thailand. I want to be there 90 days, so I plan to get a 30 day extension when my 60 day visa expires. On the visa application it asks how many days I'll stay, and it asks for both entry and exit tickets. Can I say 90 days? Will the exit ticket that's 90 days out be acceptable?

You can put 90 days.

If you need to show a ticket out to get the visa they may want it to be within 60 days dependent upon where you apply for it. You need to check with them to see what they want.

To board your flight or to enter the country you do not need a return or onward ticket if you have a visa.

The airline or travel agent would the only ones who might be interested in seeing a return ticket. The fact that you have a return ticket paid for is all they should care about and as long as you have a tourist visa they probably wouldn't bother about that.

Their concern is with people who buy one way tickets and have no visa. If that person were refused entry into Thailand (highly unlikely) the airline would be stuck with flying that person out. As long as you have an exit ticket paid for, the airline wouldn't get stuck with the cost of flying you out.

If you're applying for a single entry tourist visa the embassy/consulate would know you get 60 days and could get an extension for 30 days, so saying 90 days should be OK. I don't think they really care that much what you write since it wouldn't change the fact that the visa entitles you to a 60 day entry regardless of what you write.
