Poll: NCPO remains popular among Thais

BANGKOK, 28 March 2015 (NNT) – The performance of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) since it took the helm of the country ten months ago remains popular among Thai people, according to a recent survey by Suan Dusit Rajabhat University.

The survey shows that as high as 85 percent of the respondents still have a positive attitude towards the NCPO. According to the respondents, the most outstanding traits of the NCPO are its commitment to solving the country’s problems and boosting tourism, its decisiveness and tough stance against corruption.

When asked what they regarded as the biggest challenge for the NCPO, most of them picked the economic and the political reform issues. The problem they want the NCPO to fix urgently is the high cost of living. They also suggested that the NCPO heed suggestions from all sectors.

It's always a good idea to be the bullies friend and approve of his actions when the alternative could be very unpleasant. So just keep smiling guys.

You live in a country with martial law, censorship, detention without trial, and rule by decree that bans criticism of the government. You receive a phone call from someone who knows who you are. He asks "Do you support the government?". What's the safe answer?

"Don't bother me now - I'm posting on ThaiVisa."

The survey consisted of 9 adults and 4 students. 7 of the adults and 1 student said yes considering there were armed guards standing next to the person asking the question. The other 3 students didn't understand the question and asked what NCPO meant.

This is a reply without bias ???? I would call it way OTT propaganda. Martial law because of the dwindling red paid groups ( who were ready to fight on the streets to retain the Shins---------Censorship in every country, here in particular because of mainly organized disruptive anti PM factions, Criticism is fine if constructive centers set up for this--open forum. The detention without trial is for those extremists within our midst.

You are not the norm bruce you belong to the minority here who are blatantly attacking for the thrill of it.

What is OTT propaganda?

I know you are not the norm here ginjag, being part of a minority that explodes when your dream of being an elite yellow Thai is dishevelled by a TV member expressing a view that does not comply with your thoughts.

Challenging the view of what is happening is OK. Blatant attacks may be associated with a type of paranoia that is developing?

From another thread here on Thaivisa.

Read it twice and maybe reconsider your blind support for the current powers:

A new Thai constitution being drafted by the ruling junta is a throwback to an era when a royalist and military elite had a stranglehold on politics, analysts and politicians say, warning of dire consequences for democracy.

I said twice.........................................coffee1.gif

There's zero point in arguing or trying to explain to the Kool Aid drinking Farang's here that Thai experts in their own country don't have as clear a view as these Kool aid drinkers. They are the the true experts, not the Thai academics, not the Thai Politicians, or the Thais who have lived here for generations..

One day the Kool Aid will run out, and they will have to drink the regular water like everyone else.. this is natural, seen this a dozen times or so in my line of work, new guy at the top comes in, changes everything, pisses everyone off, tries to reinvent the wheel, makes his money, then sods off to do it elsewhere.

Lions led by donkeys indeed!!

I'd like to know how they establish people have a positive attitude towards the NCPO and then convert that to popularity

I doubt they ask people that question directly "Do you have a positive attitude toward the NCPO "and if they do I'm surprised ,more than 85 % of people didn't say yes for a quiet life , I doubt under the current regime many people are going to Say "No I hate them" and start venting their spleen

Have a little read up about the source of the information

Is anything I posted untrue? The stuff about martial law, censorship, detention without trial, rule by decree and criticism of the government is definitely true.

Do you think reality is OTT propaganda?
