Ordered a New Car that we saw at the CM Motor Show.

The sales guy said he could get us 600,000 for our old car when previous dealers selling the same model would only give us 450,000.

The deal to sell our car was to a 3rd party who paid half of our deposit himself, so we have seemingly not got a contract with the dealer to do a part exchange with them, but with this 3rd party.

Yesterday my wife got a phone call from the sales guy who said that the buyer wanted the car today so that he could make a few minor repairs , (dents, scratches etc) and he had a buyer for it!!.

She said no, her new car is not available yet so as far as we are concerned there will be no sale of her car to this third party unless he comes round here and gives us cash for it as far as I am concerned.

The sales guy started to pressure my wife into letting it go now and he got a bit snotty about it, I am sure he will be on the phone asking again today.

I don't like it. I am skeptical that someone would pay as much as they have for our car. We have our own number plate that will need to be transferred to our new car, the dealership said they would take care of this, but if this other guy is taking possession of it as soon as we get the new one, why would he bother?

It sounds fishy to me, this is a new dealership in town, we have invoice number 48, they have only been going since January

Any comments?

Cheers

Of course you don't sign transfer papers, or hand over the keys without getting full payment first.

Accept nothing else.

No contract with the third party......I assumed that he was part of the company at the time, it's only since my wife started being badgered about giving the car up that I have looked at the documents she signed and nowhere does it even mention the px price, but the guy that is taking our car gave a 10,000 baht deposit to them, along with our 10,000 baht.

I have now pointed this out to my wife, we are seriously thinking of pulling out of the deal, if it costs me 10,000 baht then so be it, however if the guy who is buying our car still wants to give us 600,000 for it...happy days, he can have it and we would start again

sounds initially like a good deal but the devil is in the detail and suddenly things are not so straight forward...

when something sounds too good to be true it often is.

proceed with caution or pull out. i'd probably pull out and put it down to experience.
