Breakfast in Jomtien. 2015 Thread

Featured Replies

The best Jomtien breakfast thread has been archived so maybe it's time for an update.

2015 Where is the best breakfast in Jomtien?

I will submit a brand new entry into the Best Jomtien Breakfast war.

I just had a great one at Pastrami on Rye.

Open at 7AM. Nice.

This American Breakfast costs 155bt. I upgraded the beverage to cappuccino for an extra 15Bt.

That bacon is overcooked.

The burgers look disgusting.

The egg reminds me of the washing cloth on my sink.

Where is the butter for the toast?

155Baht for that?

I wouldn't eat it even if it was free.

I am with Costas on this one.

That looks awful - also, the toast is (mainly) undercooked.

Having eaten this breakfast it is quite good. The picture may not do it justice. Those are sausage patties(not burgers) and are tasty. The toast is good also not the Aro(Makro) or Farmhouse brand bread that the Cheap Charlie places serve. No Thai food served here so no remnants of cheap Thai cooking oil or fish sauce in your scrambled eggs.

I am glad to hear it tastes better than it looks. Were fried potatoes on offer in another set meal or as an added cost option?

OP, I'm not going to open and read your PM as I can imagine it's contents from the heading.

They also have breakfast menu items that many places don't have; pancakes, french toast, ham steak(which was overcooked in the pic) to name a few.

Looks dry and horrible, thanks for the warning.

An update on Irish Wolfhound , their excellent breakfast now costs 80 baht, incl coffee. Still best deal in this area.

I noticed that place has Home Fries on their menu as an add on option.

Are they real freshly cooked Home Fries or just those frozen patties you can buy at the grocery store?

I find their pancake breakfast set kind of odd.

I think it's weird to serve eggs with pancakes.

Choice of sausage or eggs not weird.

It would be more appealing with bigger pancakes and drop the eggs.

The batter would have eggs in it anyway!

It's an American run business geared for American tastes, and pancakes, bacon (or ham) and eggs is as American as you can get. They also serve biscuits and gravy. American style breakfast is also served at Rich Man Poor Man on Jomtien Soi 9. For a more European style breakfast I like Back Fabrik on the new 2nd Road.

Duh dude.

Yes I know.

I'm American.

I really don't think most Americans want eggs when they're having a pancake breakfast.

Some do yes but I think typically not.

Yes, like I said, a meat choice, often yes.

Those pancakes are small. If you want pancakes you want pancakes.

I am suggesting they offer a set option of larger pancakes, no eggs.

Of course even weirder would be serving eggs with French toast. But I see they aren't doing that ... good.

The simple simons standard breakfast has the best rep. 120 baht. When anyone tries anything fancy with a breakfast it always ends up tasting and looking like crap.

Next visit, I will suggest they offer pancakes ala carte in addition to their buttermilk pancake breakfast. This is a typical pancake breakfast from just about any American restaurant chain. Note the similarities, actually I would also prefer hashed browns like the Hungryman at Rich Man Poor Man.

Not a la carte. Bigger pancakes. Still with a meat side.

What I hate is when they do a nice big breakfast, but don't include something like baked beans or mushrooms and charge almost 50% of the BB cost for an extra to be included.

Why oh why won't Thais cook eggs properly? I hate runny fried eggs. Even when I ask for them to be done properly they still bring them almost raw.

Baked beans and mushrooms with Brekkie is un-American.

Haven't visited IHOP lately?

Notice at IHOP the eggs are a side not an equal feature to the pancakes. I still contend that set as presented is a deviant interpretation of an American pancake brekkie.

Just about. It's in Soi 4 Pratumnak, and for me that's walking distance from my Jomtien condo (even if I do generally take the car).

I saw that their price had gone up but havent been recently due to my diet which forbids bread or beans.

Do they still do the 100B "full monty" or has the small one been modified?

At 155B that Pastrami on Rye breakfast looks way overpriced to me. You can get everything on that plate, and a dozen times more, at the Denmark for 170B.

And if you also want cappuccino you can get it at Casa Pascal (plus a whole load more things) for just 225B (or less with member discount).

Southern biscuits at Danmark? Breakfast burrito?
