Late at night on Friday, in the middle of KSR, while waiting with a few friends for kebabs that we’d ordered, I had an effeminate local man grab and procede to wrap his arms around me, while he got all touchy-feely. When I quickly objected to his advances, he and his blonde-haired Caucasian male partner tried to say that the local guy knew me as we had previously engaged in a one-night stand (hahaha, wasn't true), so, they were now going to beat me up for this open public rejection.

I was lucky as my group of friends and I were able to persuade these pair of bandits to flee. Beware of this scam. It was obviously an attempted pickpocketing turned into a violent attempted robbery.

I rarely advocate violence but these two deserve what's coming to them and hopefully it will result in a permanent limp and facial disfigurement. Something that frightens small children and gives tourists plenty of warning.

The last thing any of us wants is any trouble with local people. I am therefore very tolerant and let most things go (e.g. aggressive/idiotic driving)....but I won't tolerate anybody trying to grab hold of me. Had somebody try it once and had to robustly repel them.

I was hit over the head from behind by a tuk-tuk driver in KS who wanted 300thb from me instead of the negotiated 100thb. He literally knocked me to the ground. I kicked him in his gut and he ran away like a baby. Was about 2-3 years ago.

I personally think KSR is worse than Walking St - neither is a shining beacon for tourism in Thailand but I'm not aware of any scam here in Bizarro Disneyland where a Farang is an active participant : that's a new low for mine and I think its safe to assume that meth is involved. I was standing back while my Thai friends were at the kebab stand, so perhaps that had bearing on why I was chosen to be their next victim.

That's right, a local person comes up to you acting friendly, gives you a hug and has a chat. After the person has left you realize that you're short a wallet, mobile and so forth.
