Its embarrassing how dopey some people are in believing companies can treat customers how they like and hide behind small print, and that's ok. . Lawyers or bankers maybe, but not real people...

You really aren't interested in taking any personal responsibility for what you sign up for are you?

You make it sound like the world is against you because you can't be bothered reading the T&C's - but you're making a mountain out of a molehill. If you can't be bothered reading what you're signing up for, fine.

But have the common sense to ask some simple questions about how the plan works at least.

From your posts, you obviously know your way around the terminology and basic workings of telco plans. So do some research and ask some questions instead of signing up for something, letting the package/credit run out, and then venting on the forum. Its almost as if you want things to go tits up so you can have a rant about it.

Interestingly to me anyway, the DTAC board of directors seems only to have 4 thais out of 12? hmm. Chairman and Interim CEO: Mr.Sigve Brekke, 56 y o Norwegian from Telenor group.(ex Harvard)

Given that Telenor is the parent company of DTAC, how is this surprising?

There's no question that more and more responsibility falls on the consumer to manage their account/services. Not arguing if this is good or bad. Just a modern day reality.

Many aircard UIs now offer SMS and USSD.

Don't forget to factor in VAT, +7%.

I recommend lodging complaints with the NBTC, they have many channels, in the event you are unsatisfied with service/issue resolution.

It is very easy to port out of say DTAC and in to TrueMove H or AIS. You'll lose any remaining prepaid balance.

Most providers here offer multiple methods to monitor, manage, review one's account: web, mobile, IVR, USSD, call center email.

SMS spamming/scamming is a real problem. It is easy to accidently subscribe to these costly services, even from a PC via an email, web-site, or even just opening a spam SMS.

The 12 midnight thing is pretty typical re: starting/stopping/renewing services; it can s*ck but makes for an easier implementation.

It is fairly straight-forward to disable mobile data - on my Android (5.1.1) phone it's under Settings, Data usage, slide to the left to turn "cellular" (mobile) off data.

Again, it's a pain but you do need to monitor your subscriptions, packages, renewal dates, balance.

When I've subscribed to DTAC internet (USSD: using the *9 suffiix for English) the first reply usually details the terms, including recurrence. It is easy to cancel subscribed internet via USSD.

It is now even easier to manage and review your account with DTAC, and all the other providers. Their web-based service uses an SMS PIN. I think you can review all the details of the last 3 months.

DTAC details:

Call center 1678

email: [email protected]

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=th.co.crie.tron2.android&hl=en

Self service (USSD, IVR, etc.): http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/services/happynumber.html

Web: https://my.dtac.co.th/esv/en/login

TrueMove H and AIS have fairly similar capabilities.

Reading through this sent me to check my messages for my AIS 3G.

They read:-

The fee for 3G MaoMao399B unlimited 4608MB AWifi 3month will be deducted on 24/05/2015 at 11:50 a.m. Please ensure sufficient balance to continue this package.

MaoMao399 unlimited AIS Wifi has been activated.

Plenty of advanced warning from AIS and also deducted at 11:54 a.m. (I registered at that time a month earlier).

Quick confirmation that my account had duly been topped up AND that my new wifi had been activated.

All credit to AIS for the information via messages displayed on the computer when I connect to charge my unit.

I use the AIS pocket wifi. Stops them being able to deduct any money from my phone as it is a stand alone unit.

Thanks a bunch for this - I've been irrated many times with my SmartPhone seemingly turning on my Data connection by itself. Then finding I 've been charged 49baht and got free internet till midnight. All of which I did not want

So ok to save the 'flammers' replying - I am probable to stupid to own a 'Smart" phone. And should have known how to disable the data connection in which case by now I would probable be at least 1000 baht the richer.

But I am most likely typical of 90% of users out there.

In any case thanks again for your post - much appreciated
