Hi guys

Just was wondering I understand international flight arrivals must go through immigration checks . Does the same apply if travelling domestically in Thailand?

Planning to Catch a flight from DM in Bkk to Phuket, as it's a domestic flight do you have to go through the long que's at immigration same as international flights? Thanks

Do not fly if you are on overstay. You will be flagged even if domestic flight.

I will not be overstaying . Just wondered if you need to go through all the immigrations checks as you do when you arrive in an international flight , of is it less hassle and just walk through .

Moving this topic from "Visas and migration to other countries" to "Thailand Travel Forum", where somebody will probably know the answer.

No immigration on domestic flights. You don't even need a passport. Any official picture ID will suffice. I normally use my Thai driving license for domestic flights.

Even if you hold a foreign passport? Mine is UK . So my drivers licence will do?

If you have a Thai driving license then yes. A UK one unlikely. But you can try. Most airlines really don't care or check all that much on domestic flights.

The airline's check-in staff wants to compare the name on your flight reservation or e-ticket against a picture ID. Many members have posted that for domestic travel, the airline was satisfied with the Thai driving license.

It is, however, advisable to carry your passport with you also when travelling domestically and I see no harm in showing it at the check-in for a flight or at a hotel.
