Storms on Tuesday and Wednesday damaged more than 900 homes in eight provinces. The storms dropped heavy rains and had large gusts of wind that caused most of the damage.

In Maha Sarakham, 118 houses were damaged. Nakhon Ratchasima had 41 houses and even a government building damaged because of the storms. The districts of Muang and Moei Wadi had a total of 61 homes damaged as well as a temple.

The districts of Wang Somboon and Taphraya had 49 houses damaged. One person was killed in Taphraya as a result.

No district suffered as much damage as Kranuan. The Khon Kaen province took the brunt of the storm with 340 houses partly destroyed. Ban Khok was hit equally as hard with 340 homes damaged.

Thailand’s Meteorological Department announced that the north of the country can expect even more storms throughout Wednesday. It is expected that a high pressure system will dump more rain and hail on many of the battered provinces. North, East, Northeast and Central regions are all under a storm warning alert on Wednesday.

Authorities have issued a warning for residents to stay away from unsound building until April 9th when the storms move out of the area. Any risk structures are to be avoided at this time.

Surin has missed out again

I dont believe lightning differentiates between houses and government buildings, it just does what it wants to do

"In Maha Sarakham, ..... even a government building damaged because of the storms."

Are government buildings normally exempt storm damage, then?

I dont believe lightning differentiates between houses and government buildings, it just does what it wants to do

unless the people inside have been particularly bad, or been telling untruths at the moment of impact.
