petedk Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 "After the YouTube clip showing the young farang man walking with no cloth on went viral, police from the Chana Songkram police station went to inspect the scene late Monday night. Pol Lt Somyos Udomraksasup, deputy commander of the Chana Songkram police station, told Daily News that police officers from his station found the man on Khaosarn Road at 11pm Monday. The man appeared drunk and was spotted walking around with his shorts in his right hand and with nothing to imagination." So, he was doing it again? After the clip had been posted? Maybe it was the reenactment, or does that come later?
whitemouse Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Apparently it was a very small offence, deserving the very small fine. It was! Pleasant surprise that for once law here was used appropriately, given how harsh punishments can be here for minor offences, when perp happens to be foreigner. But this may not be end of it, I'm sure there will huge outcry from angry Thais in social media about how reasonable this punishment is, and law will take another look at this. Remember how freaked out Thai social media was at the young foreign couple doing some yoga in a park not long ago. Since last year there seems to be a wave of manufactured outrage in Thai social media against foreigners, and usually over very minor crimes.

Maybe due to the foreigners coming from "developed countries" and then behaving like imbeciles; the Thais have higher expectations of us. 2
mojorison Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Apparently it was a very small offence, deserving the very small fine. One baht per millimeter it was reported.
ratcatcher Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Never mind young man, a B100 fine is a token gesture. When back in the UK remember...........
getithere328 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 What a complete idiot. They should have given him a night or two in the cells.
Happy Grumpy Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 A three dollar fine for public for public drunk and indecency? Are you kidding me? Thailand's great like that. Massage - 150b Oil Massage - 400b Oil Massage and happiness - 700b DVD's 100b Latest computer games and software - 80-200b. Walk around bollok a$s nekid - 100b fine. Thailand > The West for many things.
jethro69 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 What a complete idiot. They should have given him a night or two in the cells. Yes, together with all the katoeys they arrested for similar offenses... 1
Userone Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Is the article saying that they found him naked again? Or.. the police saw the video and fined him the same night?
berybert Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Drink and drive and chance killing people 500 baht fine. Walk around with your nut sack hanging out 100 baht fine. And most people are more disgusted with the 100 baht fine. How many people were killed due to drunk driving over Songkran and how many did cock boy kill ? 1
chooka Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 yeah ..... that'll teach him !! I hope he's learn't an expensive lesson ...... maybe he can pay it off in installments. 100 baht, that's the cost of a beer.
borisloosebrain Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I'm sure the breasts were worth a 500. ฿ fine. As for banning him from entering thailand for Six months as some thais suggested, surely banning him from entering a Thai for six months would be a greater punishment.
Nick167 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Oh when is the thai immigration ever going to get strict about the type of tourists that come to thailand? Immigartion checks, financial pre-requisites etc should e put into place to get quality tourists and expats not garbage that we are having these days.
geriatrickid Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Well, at least he has marked up his body to allow easy identification next time.
Blindside Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 He will probably say its the best 100 baht he ever spent. Does he get a reduction to a B50 fine if he admits guilt and shows remorse?
dotpoom Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 "Thais were fined Bt500 each for exposing their breast"....is that 1000 Bt. in total?... 555. I'm always amazed how these things go "viral"....does that mean more than two people looked at it?
jimstar1 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Thailand the land of Jokes use to be smiles 100 baht fine biggest joke so far this year
longstebe Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Should have been fined the same as the Thais from last year. In fact, why don't we pay the same as Thais for everything else starting with the national parks.
JacChang Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 The Briton was told to put on his shorts and the officers fined him Bt100 for acting indecently in public place and released him. That is very nasty, I am sure he wanted other songkran tourists to do that for him, not some men in uniform.
Borzandy Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 The police spent at least1000 Baht finding this man and charged him 100 Baht. Thai logic.
tracker1 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 A three dollar fine for public for public drunk and indecency? Are you kidding me? Nobody's kidding you... this is Bangkok, not Singapore. If it was, he would have gotten a few strokes of the cane. Maybe he needed a few strokes to lengthen the fine !
Fookhaht Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Investigative journalism reveals source of crime...
DavisH Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) At least, while naked, he didn't shoot anyone in the leg with a dart Maybe Thais now know how it feels to be charged more for something simple based on race They must have spent more than 100 baht in manpower to find this guy, so what was the point? Let's all post on that Daily News facebook page to let them know our feelings. Edited April 17, 2015 by DavisH
NongKhaiKid Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 The BIB shouldn't be permitted to levy fines other than for laid down traffic offences, the official fines I mean. I'm sure there's nothing in the BIB Imaginary Schedule of Fines that includes a naked foreigner on Songkran Day so where does Bt 100 come from ? 1
northernphil Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 How was he fined 100B if he only had a pair of wet shorts in his hand , maybe he had to slip the BIB a wet one. At least during the water fighting you can take a pee any time but if you are stark bo((0ck naked .....eeeeew !
empireboy Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 That fine is unconscionable! No doubt his family and friends will band together to stump up the money.
3SoiDogNight Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I'd celebrate Songkran if we can go naked. Throwing water at fully clothed people is stupid and not fun at all. Glad to know the fine is only 100 baht. Next year I'll go naked. Let's start something new. 1
