...desecration of graves...and the introduction of parts of corpses into objects,,,for questionable purposes...has nothing to do with amulets.....

Chinese,Muslims,Christians and Jews ?,bury their dead,there are 2 cemetery's

up here in Chiang Mai I know about, even have a plot in one,but hoping I don't

need it for a while yet.

Buddhism has some really twisted people in the ranks, and too many things that

have nothing to do with it.

regards Worgeordie

Ah, how did that grave deal work out? Can you at least own that plot of land personally ...?

Only if you live there for longer...... alt=facepalm.gif>

I thought they cremate the dead in Thailand.

Haven't noticed any graveyards anywhere I've been.

Only the memorial shrines in the yards of the Wats, that I believe they contain the ashes.

I'm learning something different every day........................

Isaan...so, most likely Chinese/Thai......the Chinese up that way usually bury if they can afford it

About 15 years ago the wat closest to my village was raided by thieves who were stealing the ashes remains interred in the 'chedi' type tombstones found around the perimiter of all wats in this Country. They broke into the tomb and stole the ashes of my wife's father. Also there were the ashes of my wifes younger sister who had died of cancer. They somehow missed her ashes.

My wifes family decided to inter the -remaining ashes in a chedi in our village wat together with the remains of two other brothers who had died. A new chedi was purchased (guess who paid for it?) and with ceremony was concecrated if that is the correct word. That chedi is where my remains will be interred after my demise.

The Police eventually caught up with the 'tomb robbers'. They didn't steal the remains for local consumption in amulets, the ashes were destined for China. Why, I don't know, you work it out.

Superstitious beliefs say such corpses can be used for black magic.

Not long and we'll see monks flying on brooms, anyway cheaper than Lear Jets.

The monks in our area would never fly "economy class".....facepalm.gif

And only a few of them stay at the Bangkok Hilton...

It's pretty normal to " extract lottery numbers" outta of a human skull these days.

Denied and confessed? Sounds like the story of the older guy who came and went at the same time, when laying on a sexy 18 year old.

Don't we all need a skull from time to time? facepalm.gif

Monk held for "stealing"corpse parts
The Nation

A MONK in Udon Thani has been arrested for allegedly stealing a corpse from a local cemetery and chopping off the head of another corpse for black magic purposes.

Pol Colonel Nawara Jannawan, chief of police at Prachak Sinlapakhom district, said yesterday that the monk denied the allegation but confessed to visiting the two graves at Ban None Sa cemetery to allegedly "extract lottery numbers".

The monk, based in Buri Ram, is in police detention pending questioning by a deputy national police chief. Quoting villagers, Nawara said the monk claimed he could provide winning lottery numbers using details from bodies of people who were murdered or killed in accidents. Hence, the villagers pointed out the two graves and later found the bodies missing.

The officer said the heads of a brother and sister, aged 9 and 8, who drowned recently were similarly cut off at a cemetery in Udon Thani's Kumphawapi district. The parents had filed a police complaint and told the media about the abuse of their children's corpses.

Anong Heebkaew, the mother of a gunshot victim whose body also went missing from his grave, said she was devastated. Another body whose head had been cut off was that of a woman who died during pregnancy.

When it comes to lottery numbers and good luck, look out these Thai's fall for anything.

I met a girl who changed her last name because some fortune teller nut told her it was bad luck.

What shit these people believe in, no wonder every one is related in a village, to each other,

Cause or Effect?

Meanwhile the PM urges all Thais to make it worthwhile to visit Thailand......

These sick monks should be disrobed and jailed, same for those folks who pay these monks to get lottery numbers from dead corpses, what a sick mindset.

Its actually very common in many Asian countries to play lottery numbers of the deceases date or time.

Would monks be able to "see" the lottery numbers, we wouldn't see any more monks in this country. They'd all be airborne.

What happened to the Sisaket monks, who were filmed in their private Lear Jet?

if you mean the one who had enough time to empty all his bank accounts before the DSI came calling, they did give prior warning they would freeze all his accounts, he was last heard of in the US I think.

Funnily enough and despite all the huffing and puffing from Tarit the DSI never got around to extraditing him. giggle.gif

The last I heard of them, they were living in Southern California, living in a nice home by a lake, driving Mercedes cars, with many wealthy California Thai's visiting them. Nice job if you can get it. coffee1.gif

Monk disrobed for theft of heads from four corpses
The Nation

UDON THANI: -- A Buddhist monk in Udon Thani province was disrobed in order to face criminal charges, along with two layman accomplices, for allegedly stealing and chopping off the heads of four corpses. Two of the corpses were from Ban None Sa cemetery in Prachak Sinlapakhom district and other two from Ban Chiang Haew cemetery in Kumphawapi district.

Former monk Oon Oonreun, 65, and his alleged accomplices Khunthong Ketnu, 32, and Worapong Senapol, 20, now face charges of stealing at night-time and removing corpses or body parts without a sound reason, said Kumphawapi superintendent Pol Col Santhan Intharajak yesterday.

It was reported that they stole the corpses and chopped off the heads to get winning lottery numbers and make "Pan Neng" talismans, before dumping the skulls in a lake. Police had divers trying to locate the disposed skulls at the lake yesterday.

In actual fact the process for the belief to obtain winning lottery numbers (as weird as what it sounds) is when person dies in hospital. Therefore, the practising physician at time of deaf buys a lottery ticket usually winning. Its very common belief in the medical arena. Its something to do with the passing of the soul from world to another . Cycle of Life.. I think these Monks pushing it a bit too far .
