Crime Manhunt Underway After Shocking Assault on 7-Year-Old Autistic Boy in Chiang Mai

Police are under mounting pressure to act after a disturbing video surfaced online showing a man violently assaulting a 7-year-old autistic boy in the early hours of the morning. The incident, which took place outside the Sri Yon Market in the Bo Sang area of Chiang Mai, has sparked public outrage across social media. According to the post by Facebook user Emmy Nived Sukeaw, who shared CCTV footage of the attack, the incident occurred at approximately 04:00 on 13 July. The child, referred to as “Nong A”, had been waiting with his mother, Ms. Rerai, to catch transport to sell lottery tickets at Chiang Mai’s Muang Mai market. They were accompanied by Rerai’s younger sister, “Jeje”. The trouble began when a stray dog, reportedly familiar to the area, barked at a man passing by. The man, wearing a sleeveless shirt, began shouting angrily at Ms. Rerai, demanding that she restrain the dog. Rerai explained that the animal was a stray and not under her control, but the man reportedly grew increasingly agitated. Crossing the road toward the group, the man began to intimidate them. Fearing for their safety, the family moved to a more brightly lit area outside a claw machine shop. But the man followed and continued his verbal tirade, eventually escalating to physical violence. He was captured on video kicking Jeje, before turning and delivering a brutal kick to young Nong A’s face, knocking the child to the ground and causing him to cry out in pain. The man also attempted to attack the boy’s mother before she fled the scene. The video has since gone viral, prompting a wave of condemnation and demands for justice. Disturbingly, Rerai claimed that when she reported the assault at the Bo Sang police outpost, officers refused to register her complaint or provide any assistance. As a result, she turned to social media for help. In response to public backlash, local police have now launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend the assailant. Authorities say they are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses in the area. The attack has reignited concern over the treatment of people with disabilities and the accountability of law enforcement. Advocacy groups and members of the public are calling for swift legal action against the perpetrator, as well as disciplinary measures for the officers who allegedly refused to act. Crime Drug-Crazed Son Stabs Father to Death Over Money for Meth
Picture courtesy of SiamNews. A 30-year-old man is on the run after fatally stabbing his father during a heated argument over stolen rice, which the suspect allegedly sold to buy methamphetamine. The shocking incident occurred on the evening of 13 July in Khwao Subdistrict, Mueang District, Maha Sarakham Province. Emergency responders were called to the scene at around 20:30, where they found Mr Prawit 53, in critical condition within the grounds of his home. He had been stabbed in the right side of his chest, with the knife puncturing his lung. Despite efforts to rush him to hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. According to investigators from Mueang Mahasarakham Police Station, the attacker was identified as Mr Wanchana, the victim’s biological son. Following the stabbing, he fled the scene with the weapon in hand. Mrs Waew 66, the victim’s wife and mother of the suspect, told police she had been inside the house at the time of the attack. She overheard a loud quarrel between father and son outside. The argument reportedly stemmed from Mr Wanchana stealing rice from the household to sell in order to buy methamphetamine. Mr Prawit, angry that the family was left with no food, harshly scolded his son, which allegedly triggered the violent response. After stabbing his father, the suspect reportedly walked away from the house shouting, “That felt so good!” Witnesses said he appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Police have launched an urgent manhunt for Mr Wanchana, who remains at large and is believed to still be in a drug-induced psychotic state. Authorities have warned local residents to remain vigilant, as the suspect may pose a danger to others. Officers are focusing their search in nearby areas, fearing further violence if he is not apprehended soon. Adapted by Asean Now from SiamNews 2025-07-15 -
