Ed Visa and Tourist visa

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

This is my situation :

- I'm in thailand since half of November 14. I had a tourist visa from november until half of January 2015 (30 days + 30 days).

- Then, i'm registered myself in a school in Bangkok in order to learn thai (Ed visa). I follow thai classes since around 5 months now. My ED visa is available until tomorrow, so i will go to the immigration in order to pass a Thaï test to extend my visa.

Everything should be fine, but just in case, I would like to know one thing. If I not obtain an extend for my visa, would it be possible to have a visa tourist ? In order to extend my stay in Thailand for 2 months.

Many thanks,

Julie

A tourist visa gives a 60 day entry. It appears you got a 30 day visa exempt entry and then possibley extended it for 30 days.

If your extension was denied you could leave and re-enter to get another visa exempt entry and extend it for 30 days.

Or you could go to a nearby embassy or consulate and get a single entry tourist visa that would give you 60 days than can be extended for 30 days.

Many thanks ubonjoe.

That's not a problem if I'd alreay have a tourist visa from november 2014 since january 2015 ?

Your previous entries do not matter now since you have gotten a ED visa since then.

Thanks :)

Last question, If i'm asking for a 60 days visa, directly to the ambassy, i will need to 1000 euros on my bank account, isn't it ?

Not unless you are going to Europe to get it and not all of them ask for it.

None of the nearby embassies or consulates ask for financial proof.

A off topic post meant to derail the topic (trolling) and the expected replies has been removed.

Just for your information, I confirm, the MOE test is a joke.

What a remarkably "clever" comment.

If you think the Authorities do not read these pages have another thought . Very easy to convert a "Joke" into a "Real Challenge" ! smile.png

Why should you delete your postings? You simply stated facts as they are, or at least, as you have perceived.

  • 1 month later...

I'm a British Expat and have been living in Phuket for almost 7 years.

I have held multiple types of visas from tourist visas, Non-B and presently an Ed-visa.

My current 1 year Ed-visa is due to finish on July 4, 2015 and I would like to apply for a 3 month or 6 month tourist visa at this time.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible to do after my Ed-visa runs out, with already having multiple tourist visas in my passport before applying for my 1 year Ed-visa?

And, where is the best country to travel to for receiving this tourist visa?

Also, will I need to show proof of funds and how much would this be?

The nearby embassies and consulates only look for you having back to back tourist visas from them. Any you had before your ED visa would not be considered.

Vientiane or Savannakhet Laos will do a 2 entry tourist visa.

Other locations only do a single entry tourist visa,

No proof of funds to get the visa is needed.

Thanks Joe for your quick response.

What would the procedure be with the 2 entry tourist visa...is this a 6 month visa?

Does this mean I would need to do a border crossing after 3 months and can this be done by land on a day bus from Phuket to a border nearby, or would I need to fly out of Thailand again?

Any idea of the cost for the single entry and double entry visa in Laos?

Also, any idea how long I must stay in Laos to obtain this TV?

PS...I apologize for posting my previous inquiry twice as I'm new to this forum and was not sure of how it works :)

Cheers,

Dee

A 2 entry tourist visa can give you a total stay of 6 months. Each entry allows a stay of 60 days that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office. After that 90 days you need to leave the country to use your 2nd entry on or before the enter before on your visa (3 months from date of issue in Laos).. You can do the entry by land. sea or air.

The fee for a tourist visa is 1000 baht for each entry.

You apply for the visa the morning of one day and pick it up the next afternoon.

How do you call a test that no one ever failed?

Just another way to ask more money
