April 21, 201511 yr Hi All, Does anyone know if it's possible to get a residence certificate at Chaeng Wattana while you wait? As I recall from the last time I got one (about 3 years ago) I went there and applied and then had to wait a few weeks for them to mail it to me. This time I want the certificate for a new drivers licence, and since I'll be travelling in 3 weeks I'd prefer to get the certificate (and the licence) right away. Also any updates on the procedure? I expect to take a filled out application form, a copy of my lease, and three photos (although last time they didn't require the photos). Anything else? Thanks for any suggestions, TG
April 21, 201511 yr Check if you need it to renew and what is needed, if you have a work permit, that is often accepted while other shave gotten a leter from the local amhur, police etc and have had mixed success with that. Depending on the office they use to get the DL. Alternatively you can get a certificate of residence from your embassy, at a price...

I'm on a retirement extension of stay. No work permit. I need to replace my Thai drivers licence because it was stolen. I have the police report but I still need an updated residence certificate. I might go to the Canadian embassy for it but years ago they charged me $50 which was pretty outrageous and I wouldn't be surprised if it's more now. I'm hoping I could go to Chaeng Wattana and beg them to give me the certificate on the spot rather than send it out (since I won't have time to wait before travelling) but I'm doubtful they'll do it.
