3 Month Visa In Penang

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, first of all thank you very much for this forum and website it really helps !!!

I m french (my english is not that good) and I m flying tomorow to Penang to make a 3 month visa to stay on koh samui and then maybe find a work. I know that normaly I have to find a job before and then go to Penang but anyway its too late for me, Im at the end of my 10 days extension visa so i need to go to Penang anyway. Can I ask for a 3 month toursit visa ? Do you know about the price of this kind of visa and its name ? If i want to find a job later will i have to go again to Penang ?

thx a lot for your answers !

You should be able to receive a tourist visa which allows a 60 day stay and can be extended for another 30 days by Immigration. You could probably obtain a two or three entry to cover up to about 9 months if you expect finding work to take a long time and believe the cost will be about 1,000 baht for each entry (but not sure of exact price).

If you find work when you are here on a tourist visa and have more then 3 weeks remaining on your permitted to stay time you can convert the visa at Immigration to a non immigrant type to allow work at a cost of 2,000 baht if it will qualify you for extension of stay (pay is the required amount for your nationality). If not you can go back to Penang or another Consulate to obtain a non immigrant B visa with your work papers.
