Thailand Named Best Wedding Destination for the 4th Year in a Row

Thailand has been named the best wedding destination for the fourth year in a row by Travel + Leisure India & South Asia. The honor was awarded at India’s Best Awards 2014 at New Delhi’s Leela Ambiance Gurgaon Hotel. This is the fourth consecutive year the country has been given this honor from the prestigious travel magazine.

Polling for the award was conducted as a reader’s choice over a 6-month period. The poll was available both online and through the magazine. Opinions of leading travel experts were also taken into consideration.

Juthaporn Rerngronasa, who is Acting Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, called Thailand the “perfect wedding destination” with “romantic wonders,” referring to the country’s tropical beaches and green mountains. She went on to praise the country’s high level of accommodation and warm climate, and noted that the country’s high Indian population allowed couples to plan an unforgettable wedding.

Aside from traditional weddings, couples can also opt for more unique celebrations, including underwater, jungle and cruise weddings.

Each year, approximately 200 Indian weddings are hosted in Thailand. In 2014, the country welcomed over 940,000 visitors from India who spent approximately 7 days in the country and spent around 5,491.83 baht per person each day.

I have been to a wedding in Phuket (Friends) on the beach and it was horrible

food was bad no service and apparently it did cost a lot

Now I was living in Thailand at that time and it did not cost me anything

on airfare like all the other guests had to pay. I got married in Kings Park in Perth

the most beautiful park you can imagine (voted in the top five of the world)

and guess what ,it cost me nothing apart from the wedding celebrant

and a good meal afterwards and a honeymoon at the Burswood Casino

Even though using the term around the article could perhaps have been more specific on their average per head daily spending of BHT 5,491.83.

The first question for Indian couples planning a wedding in another country is not, "Where would you like to get married?"

The question is, "Which countries within a reasonable distance will give you and your wedding guests visas without a big hassle?"

That quickly narrows down the options.

You guys think Thailand is corrupt? They can take lessons from India. I'm sceptical regarding all media, but stuff that comes out of India doesn't even get read.
