I am also looking for a society to join. The problem I have with these two is the courses they play on are too far for me as I haven't got a car.

Both societies play mid week, and on courses that are rather expensive. I'm in the same boat, not having a car, so I play on Mondays at the Thai Army course, 750 baht including caddy. Monday is their sports day. Other courses worth considering are Kantarat (but no good if you use a taxi as taxis are not allowed on the air force base}. The course is between the runways of Don Muang Airport. 850 baht including caddy on week days. Cheaper after 12 noon. Dhupatemiya (Air Force Course) is another worth considering. 850 including caddy on week days. Kantarat is the easiest of these courses. The Army course has 2 18 hole courses, water on every hole. Both courses an excellent test of your game. Suitable for players of all levels. Whilst these courses are not landscaped like the resort courses and the private courses they are all well maintained. If you want to travel a little bit further than Don Muang then try Muang Ake and Muang Ake Vista. Both are inexpensive (similar rates to aforementioned courses) and whilst previously have been let go and run down, both courses are now in good playing condition. Good luck finding a golf society that plays on weekends and on courses that are not over priced. I've been looking for one for 7 months and no luck thus far.

If you are interested we could start up our own society. If interested please pm me. Although bear in mind most golf courses are heavily booked out on weekends.
