Young delinquents in Observation Center given knowledge on reform and elections

TRANG, 25 April 2015 (NNT) – The provincial Election Commission (EC) of Trang held the 2nd workshop to instill knowledge on roles of good citizens, election and democracy, to young delinquents at the provincial Juvenile Observation and Protection Center.

EC President Suraphon Wichaidit said at the opening ceremony of the workshop that as the nation is entering the reform phase, it is now the time for all sides to reevaluate their roles in creating a new society by focusing on fostering new generation of good citizens who respect and comply with the democratic regulations.

He told the teens that a good citizen respects rights of others, obeys the rules of society, and is responsible for oneself and the community.

The EC president said that in order to instill such values to the younger generation, they must understand about the context of being a good citizen, while being prepared for the reformation, the new constitution and the upcoming election.

the problem in attempting to teach young delinquents the government teaches one way and the parents teach them another way who will win .

Bet the "young delinquents" loved that.

Not as much as being called a young delinquent though.

What exactly is a juvenile observation and protection centre?

It's where you go until you are old enough to graduate to the adult 'Attitude Adjustment Centre'. New style education system.

Maybe teaching by setting example that you will be held accountable for your actions would be a good starting point. And end this practice of inactive posts fire and jail wrongdoers as you call them here.

This would appear to be the right audience given that politics would appear to be one of the professions that young delinquents Thai's aspire to. coffee1.gif

If one looks to recent history, one sees that groups wielding the power to offer personal gratification have the most influence. This is demonstrated by ISIS, al-Shabab, Hamas, Hizbollah and the Stasi. The Russians and East Germans were able to use their youth centered activities including "education" to recruit their agents to get the children to spy on their families.

All the re-education in the world is not going to whitewash this fiasco.

Doing the same junta thing over and over again and expecting a different result is insanity....
