I don't know any. What about the big Irish bar on Soi 4 to meet, introduce, have a drink, start putting the world to rights and then move on from there?

Try a few spritzers....or you could bring along some sandwiches to soak up the beer.

Beer only until I'm full the scotch & coke

Will have a scotch egg

Is there a pool table there?

Upstairs....but I don't think they have a bar up there...so unlikely any other TV member will bother to venture up.

There is a Thaivisa pub in lower Sukhumvit.... Start from there?

That suggestion was well received.

Maybe they've been there before and experienced the 100 degree heat in the, effectively, non-air-conditioned bar, the relatively high prices, definitely the worst pool equipment in that part of Bangkok, the lack of atmosphere created by the almost non-existent customer base (and when there are occasionally some customers they are almost always male with a surly, high percentage coming from, let's just say, not the Middle West).

New Wave/Lounge Bar used to have pleasant attractive staff nearly all of whom have left mainly as a result of there being so few customers so hardly any tips and with salaries being as low as they are those girls needed the tips. It also didn't help that the Manageress, Suzie, shafted some of those girls financially. And this is not hearsay.

Perhaps if any of the owners are reading this they may like to do something about it and then perhaps their long-standing customer of many years would come back. It's going to take a lot though.

The Sportsman on Soi 13 is a pretty central location for a meeting point and has a nice variety of beer, pool tables galore, decent food, and has enough room to accommodate a larger than normal sized group of people. Easy walking distance to Sukhumvit Sois 5/7/8/11 and Nana.

I wouldn't worry too much about a crowd....its an informal meet up so no free beer for the balloon chasers. biggrin.png

Shhhhhh, don't tell anybody. The owner is just trying to prove the theorem that if you want a small fortune in Thailand, you just start with a big fortune and open a bar.

How many will be going?

You probably best to start a new thread....give the time...date and venue....and ask who is coming along.

Good luck!

Hanrahans, is that really the best place we can come up with along Sukhumvit?

It is marginally better than the Huntsman Club, but still, nothing better?
