Transport Co adds bus trips for holiday travelers

BANGKOK, 1 May 2015 (NNT) – The Transport Company is facilitating people’s commute during the long weekend between the 1st and the 5th of May by deploying 300 extra buses per day.

Vice President of the Transport Company Nopparat Karoonyavanich projected that, during the five-day holiday period from Labor Day to Coronation Day, there will be over 400,000 people traveling out of Bangkok, either for a family visit or for traveling. To accommodate the massive departures expected to continue through May 2, he said the company has increased the number of bus trips on outbound routes from the usual 6,000 to 6,300. With the extra services, the company will be able to accommodate up to 140,000 passengers each day.

The same measure will be implemented on inbound services when the vacationers begin to return to the capital on May 4. Mr Nopparat thus assured that all passengers will receive the utmost convenience and no one will be left stranded.

For passengers who need to catch a ride from the Mo Chit Bus Terminal, the Vice President of the Transport Company advised them to arrive at least two hours prior to departure time due to the heavy traffic in front of the terminal caused by the construction of an electric train system.

Thailand Breaks Aviation Agreement with Japan

In late March, the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) told the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) that it would prohibit Thai carriers from increasing flights to Japan. The move came after a warning from the International Civil Aviation Organisation of Thai airlines having “significant safety concerns”.

The ban was prevented after the two countries came to an agreement that Thailand would provide regular updates on the steps its taking to resolve these safety issues.

Worawi out of Fifa panel after 17 years
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Football Association of Thailand president Worawi Makudi failed in his bid to retain his seat on Fifa's decision-making executive committee, which he had held for 17 years, following his defeat in the election at the Asian Football Confederation's 26th Annual Congress in Bahrain yesterday.

The AFC's four spots on Fifa's all-powerful board went to AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa, who automatically took one seat after being re-elected as the head of Asian football, Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah of Kuwait, Japan's Kohzo Tashima and Malaysian Prince Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

In the vote for three vacant spots on Fifa's 25-strong committee, Sheikh Ahmad claimed the only seat with two-year mandate by acclamation after five other candidates opted not to run for it. That left incumbent Worawi, who sat at the top table of world football since 1997, vying for one of two spots with a four-year mandate with the other three challengers after Oman's Khalid al-Busaidi pulled out of the race.

The 63-year-old Thai, whose time in Fifa's executive committee had been marked by a string of allegations against him, received only 13 votes compared to Japanese FA vice president Tashima's 36 and Prince Abdullah's 25. The result put an end to Worawi's long-time reign in world football's governing body.
