Commerce Min to hold roadshow in several nations, promoting Thai fishery products

BANGKOK, 1 May 2015 (NNT) - The Ministry of Commerce indicated that the kingdom’s seafood exports have yet to be affected by the European Union (EU)’s decision to penalize Thailand with yellow card on Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing.

Deputy Commerce Minister Apiradee Tantraporn stated that in order to prevent further damage from the move, her ministry and local seafood exporters would join hands in organizing a roadshow, aiming to create confidence in Thailand’s seafood products among trading partners.

In the road show, Thailand will ensure foreign importers of her determination to solve the IUU issue within 3 months, well before the 6-month deadline given by the EU expires.

Ms. Apiradee estimated the roadshow would be kicked off in the middle of this month, with initial destinations including Germany, England and France.

Don't mention the rust buckets , un-sea worthy boats , the out dated fishing regulations or the slave labour conditions or the living conditions nor human trafficking and the threat from the EU and the reasons why, just the show the lovely coloured packages and their price.coffee1.gif

Just a suggestion but why not solve them first and do your bragging about it later?

It's more convincing.

Because this way they get a junket in Europe before they are banned...

Ms. Apiradee will showcase Thailand's determination with a shrimp cocktail.

Thailand does not need the EU or fear sanctions from them. Thais have a plan.

In the meantime, she said the Commerce Ministry has prepared alternative markets, such as Eastern Europe and the CLMV group, to accommodate Thai fishery products in place of the EU market.
