Pheu Thai considers 'tempting' offer for talks
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- PHEU Thai may accept Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's offer for political parties to hold meetings at the junta-run Centre for Reconciliation, deputy party spokesman Anusorn Iamsa-ad said.

The move came as the National Council for Peace and Order continues its ban on political gatherings of more than five people, despite calls from politicians to allow them to meet to discuss issues such as the draft constitution.

Prayut's offer, on Thursday, includes the condition that military officers can attend the meetings.

Anusorn said the offer was tempting and party members were deciding whether to accept it.

And if they did, they would have to decide whether to invite all party members or just representatives from each region.

He said Pheu Thai would not abandon its responsibility to the people and the country, particularly now there were discussions about the draft charter.

The party had received a letter from the Constitution Drafting Committee asking it to urgently

forward its views and suggestions on the charter draft.

Anusorn said if you viewed the constitution drafting process as being akin to constructing a house, then the builder must listen to the views of the homeowner, which in this case was the people.

The only structure where the occupants had no say in its construction was a prison.

He said the party had cooperated with the NCPO but some members wondered if the ban of political gatherings should continue to cover politicians or attending merit-making ceremonies where there were no speeches.

The Thai leader wants to put a fox in the chicken coop.

Being that all parties should have been disbanded already and their should be NO PTP at this time it is hard to believe that anyone cares what the old PTP regime thinks, cares,or wants. Their speeches and comments about their caring for the people is ludicrous to say the least. They only care about making their wallets bigger and increasing their hold over the people by ANY means. This old party and ALL their members need to be banned from all politics so they can not make a new party claiming to be democratic.

So they are allowed to gather and speak about the draft constitution but only in a Government building with Army officers in attendance.

Sort of speaks for itself

Wait for the denials from another faction, he doesn't speak for us, shouldn't take long.

True , its not like anything you read in the papers can be taken as Gospel

So 100 entered the meeting room, 6 left via the front door to return home, 94 via the rear door in order to enjoy a 7 day break at an AA camp fully inclusive paid for by the Junta.

"Pheu Thai would not abandon its responsibility to the people and the country" but they will take payment from, and vote to the orders of, a fugitive criminal even when it is clear there are massive conflicts of interest..

Anusorn seems to have prisons on his mind. Guess why.

They don't seem to trust the political parties do they.

Would you trust any of them ?

With all the < deleted> that PTP have pulled over the last few years, I'm amazed the party is still in existence and that their entire leadership aren't behind bars.

There's where the Forked Tongue is - 'the people and the country' actually means 'the Puppet Master'.

How do you know , maybe they are on daily phone hook up, one thing is for sure, you like the rest will be the last to know..

Will guns and grenades be supplied on the tables....or do they have to bring their own !

Some or all of them could come out of the meeting with a cut forehead a glazed look in their eye and mumbling "Who am I?"

If the people want them then that is up to them. Thats if they ever get to vote again.

As many in the PTP often say things without thinking, the PM has wants a military presence so if they do, it's off to adjustment school, post haste.

Two things in your comment that made ME think. First, if all political parties have been disbanded then how can there be an election? Second. I would be caring what PTP thinks, cares or wants because if there ever is an election allowed, they will still win it. If this wasn't the case, Prayut would hold an election. In my own opinion (as my granddad use to say "opinions are like a-holes, everybody's got one) it doesn't matter who's in power, they're all as bent as each other and just as greedy as each other. I particularly don't like this current incumbent as he has no discernible skill sets and seems to be more of a b/s artist than all of the other politicians put together. BUT he might be the right person for one reason and one reason only. HM the King of Thailand is in ill health unfortunately and I think it's only he that keeps the country together as a focal point - so to speak. It will be a sad day when his time does come and I believe the country will implode, maybe the General might be able to keep some kind of order. Of course, that will just cement his position further if he can do it but that will be a better option than the alternative. Long live the King.

Would love to see Thailand politicians debate on prime tv...

I have never seen such a thing...they can only organise protest marches with whistles and drums etc etc..

Yingluck Prayuth Suthep etc Abisit put them all on air and let them debate it would be so refreshing and we could soon see who has the most talent!

Some kind advice for the upcoming next new coup leaders aprox in about 5-8 years from now..

When again reform and draft new charters how about getting all political groups involved in the drafting process from the start instead of how they do it now?

Or simply forget about others their political viewpoint and just enforce your new perfect charter tp the Thais and see how that will work out in future.

Well you might like to also consider the other of the picture - if certain political parties had worked with ethics and morals and with specific big picture goals aligned to developing a balanced civil society, a better quality of life for all, and developing a real democracy for the betterment of all Thais (not a blind for developing a dictatorship) then maybe the coups and charter rewrites would not have been needed.
