I've been in Thailand for about 6 years now. Some of the time I would get double entry tourist visas and extend them but most of the time I would go to Singapore for lunch then fly back.

I've been told by a few very informedecision friends that landing and returning the same day or even the same week will begin to be restricted. Is there any validity to thismall or can I just keep going for my monthly lunches.

An elite visa is also an option at 500k for 5 years. Working 500k out over 5 years nearly matches what I pay for my tickets.

I'd prefer to continue my lunch breaks as they are a nice short holiday, but if it's going to become and issue I'm going to lean towards the elite visa.

Any recommendations?

You can still get tourist visas and stay. But just flying out and back for another 30 day visa exempt entry is no longer possible after you have a few already.

It seems the Thai Elite PE visa is a good option.for you.

You seem financially comfortable.

Go for the Thailand Elite option.

It still allows you to go for lunch in Singapore as many time as you wish...

But the difference will be that, as a Thailand Elite member, you will go when you want to, and not anymore when you have to.

The other big difference is that, when you come back to Thailand you will feel welcome, and not feeling anxious anymore.

If you want peace of mind and no more worries about immigration, this Thailand Elite PE visa is the best option.

There is 2 cases of flying in and out on the same day

- The crackdown is on visa exempts, people without visa, getting 30 days every time they enter.

- If you refer to flying to activate your second entry of tourist visa, it's fine, you have a visa.

landing and returning the same day or even the same week will begin to be restricted.

The in-out 'crackdown' started early May 2014, so over a year ago now...

If you've been successfully doing 30 day runs since then, they may be fine for you. The people immigration have an issue with, aren't the kind doing extended lunches in Singapore...

It's down to the officers' discretion, they'll see that often you're in Singapore for a few days at a time, that isn't the profile of a someone exploiting visa-free travel because they have low income.

If they do decide to stop you, you get a warning stamp and still let in that time. Could wait to see if that happens, then take action. You're not going to be stranded at a border.

I'm not sure what kind of person you are referring to,but doing lunch in Singapore is cheaper than a visa run to Cambodia with 15 people crammed in van.

Well add on the cost of the plane trip and staying up to a week in Singapore hotels. I'm aware local streetfood is cheap there :)

Doing LUNCH break means same day flying in and out.

I don't have first hand experience, but I understand that with a Thai Elite Visa, the OP could still do his little lunch trips to Singapore and be greeted like royalty at Swampy when he returns with expedited service thru the Immigration queue and a limo ride into town. Maybe someone could confirm this. Seems like a good deal to me.
