Need to obtain a new non-imm B from the Thai consulate Penang. I know agents along Chulia Street used to offer a visa service. I think they still do, but I recently read that for non-imm B applications you need to make a personal visit as they won't accept an agent's application on your behalf. Can anyone confirm?

I have seen reports that you have to submit the application in person but the agent can pick it up.

Thanks,

I don't go for another 5 weeks but will report back when I return.

The last time I was there was around 13 years ago and walked to the consulate from Chulia Street. I remember a long, hot and sweaty walk. Probably get a taxi this time.

All Non-Immigrant visas, no matter what category, issued in Penang have to be applied for in person.

Indeed, and the MO now is that the agent charges you for the service of bundling you into a minivan and taking you to the consulate, but they will collect your passport on your behalf when processed. For the same price you can hire a motorcycle for a couple of days and do the whole thing yourself and not be restricted to trudging the streets of Georgetown in the sweltering heat during your stay.
