We will have trafficking boss behind bars soon – Thailand's top cop

Just do it and then tell the public ! Telegraphing punches serves no investigative purposes unless that's the intention of course. However it does get your picture and quotes in the media and make everything look good.

If the ' boss ' and others are overseas Thailand doesn't have much of a track record on bringing fugitives back

You have experience doing police work. Or just need to hear yourself talk and find fault.

30 years doing police ' work ' and you or you just like to check posts and find fault ?

Experience in police work, or are you referring to experience and investigation skills in Thai police work?

Everyone who stayed in this country for more than a 6 week holiday can help you to understand the difference.

Just in case you need a hint:

Where else in the world would the police report “suicide” as cause of death if the victim has 5 bullet holes in his head?

30 years police service in Scotland and then Hong Kong which might explain why i get annoyed at what I read about the BIB and am so critical.

20 of the 30 was in CID.

Sorry if your intended jibe, if indeed it was, went wrong but you can always say you don't believe me.

What if there was a private fund with an anonymous phone number anyone could call when they wanted to report such crimes? This privately funded project could offer substantial rewards if the intel led to the arrest & conviction of the guilty? Of course, it would have to be supported by some NGO, possibly armed and at least with spy equipment drones to verify any received phone calls. A Rapid Deployment Force or Delta Team (etc) would rush in while the area was still "hot", capture a few people, upload the videos, pay out the rewards, and wait for other phone calls.
Problems is, research proves that 98% of poor people who suddenly receive big money will lose it within 6 months, or in this case likely also lose their lives before spending all of it if anyone suspects HOW they suddenly acquired such funds.

Let's face it, the Rohinya have nothing going for them They're very unattractive and have no definitive culture of their own that has been heretofore publicized. They're reviled in the West - Bangladesh - Muslim and not from around these parts. The World really doesn't give a **** including this corner of it. Be prepared to see absolutely no action taken from any quarter apart from lots of hand wringing and then into the sunset they once again are pushed sail.

Agree with you but their boats have to go somewhere. I think the Aussies have been dumping boat people in Papua New Guinea so I guess they could go there.

"We are cooperating with the Malaysia government but at the moment we have not pinned down the exact whereabouts of the suspect.”

Yes the all powerfull sooth sayer of Malaysia says so He looked in his crystal ball

realenglish

powerfull? (powerful)

sooth sayer? (soothsayer)

Common guys (come on guys)

strick or strike

demacracy or democracy?

Here is a clue to help with your English, when the word has a RED line under it, it is usually spelled wrong. Hold the cursor over the word and click the right mouse button. You will then see a ¨pop up box¨ with words you can select from wink.png

Oh and for others:

Then = Then it rained so we went home

Than = I have more money THAN you thumbsup.gif

This post was meant to be helpful, not criticising.

As Tuco says on The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly - "if you're going to shoot, shoot… don't talk."

I have an extra samurai sword at my house if that Police Captain wants to borrow it.

The authorities have known about trafficking for years. It is nothing new. People, drugs, fishing, animal parts, rare animals, timber, contraband - its all a huge business and nothing much comes close to a crack down. They could have stopped this and been proactive much earlier and demonstrated to the international community that were on top of their game. There are good laws in Thailand ........ but lack of will to enforce them by the very people charged with the task trips it up every-time and that is why we end up with a limp PR exercise and egg all over the faces of people who should command the greatest of respect for doing a great job in the first place.

another know it all has spoken.

So you go around all day Mr. "nithisa78" getting your kicks stirring the pot.

'Gen Somyot said ... these are not the first camps we found. We found others before, but we did not tell the media about them. We did this [action against traffickers] because the Government made it a policy from January this year.' To tell the media? Or to take action?

And how about some cast iron guarantees that this person will receive jusice that is very swift and so incredibly harsh..

How people can purport so be in favour of the death penalty for drug traffickers while at the same time not voice much concern about punishing people traffickers. I know for certain which type of trafficker brings more misery and suffering.

Also another poster mentioned about promises they'll find him soon while also conceding they have no clue where he is. Langkawi is small incidentally, not easy to stay hidden there for too long at all

Human trafficking a sick, twisted thing that destroys whole families and communities all over the world. What makes this case worse is the fact that many of those who are supposed to be combatting this sick trade are themselves involved from the top down.

It's obvious that many of the victims, whole families men, women, and children who resisted have been murdered and dumped in mass graves by the traffickers. What of the punishment for those involved they are simply given a new posting within the organisation.

May all the victims RIP, and I hope the families find justice.

Agree with that A99. The local communities were certainly totally aware of what was going on for many years and according to this article from two years ago, saw nothing wrong with it. Without international pressure and exposure by the media, it would certainly be going full bore.

Yes TD and the only thing I have to add that some of the communities that knew what was going on may not have benefited from the trafficking but somebody did a first class job in coercing their complete silence which is hardly surprising given the status of those involved in this.

In addition, even if anyone thought to complain to the authorities who could they complain to, who could they trust ?

Maybe try an international warrant?

Maybe promise some money for those who help to hand him over, and guarantee whistleblowers that they will not be charged themselves for being part of this "business"

  • 2 weeks later...

These people care far more about image and nothing about actually stopping this trafficking nightmare.

What are you doing to help?

What are you doing to help, except making sarcastic comments?
