I am planning to build a loft bed and I can only find one lumber shop in Ubon that will cut some stuff to size for me. All they have is rubber tree lumber. Is this good for building furniture like this? I've read it's vulnerable to termites. I haven't worked with wood for so many years but this is a pretty simple project. I just don't know anything about lumber here and it's been difficult to find many other options. What I wouldn't give for an American Home Depot right now... I may just opt for IKEA but would prefer to use my own hands for once. :)

Some years ago when the rubber market went downwards there seemed to be a lot of light furniture that was said to be rubber tree wood as they were being removed for something more profitable. It was just those folding tables, coffee tables and cabinets. In Oz a lot of this timber was coming from Indonesia or so i was told.
