My wife opened a store several years ago without doing anything more than building, stocking and begin trading.

After about 12 months in business the tax office crew visited, registered her little enterprise and collected the alcohol and tobacco duty. They mentioned at the time that they usually overlook new 'businesses' in the first year or so as they seldom continue trading for very long.

A very small operation, like a food stall, do not need any kind of company to operate, If the business will have a permanent location and name, just a registration on the local distric like a personal business also will be OK. May cost 200 thb to do it or less.

Only will pay taxes if the net yearly profit is over 300,000. If the business owners are more than one person, even with a farang, the Limited Partnership Company is the cheapest and easier to register at the local DBD office. Cost about 2000thb, no capital required.
