Non-Immigrant B visa

Featured Replies

Dear Forum,

Has anyone done a Non-Immigrant B visa trip to Kuala Lumpur? How does the process work?

Also, would the company pay for the trip to KL and visa process? What is the norm here in Thailand?

Would appreciate your input and thanking you all in advance!

Kind regards,

I do not recommend going to KL for any visa.

But you can probably get a non-b visa there with the a work permit application approval letter and the required documents from your employer. You apply the morning of one day and get it back the next day.

There is no norm. Some employers pay for the trip and visa but not all.

Hi there - thanks for that but why do you say not recommend to go to KL?

Kl is unpredictable as to their requirements to get visas. It can change from day to day. There are better places to go.

Hi again - thanks for that - I'm Malaysian and I heard that you have to do your Non-Immigrant B visa from you home country - hence, going to KL. Is Vientiean easier?

Penang is the ONLY place to do a 1 year multi entry B visa in the area an if you have the correct paperwork

its easy

Not correct, I have done Non-B's in several countries in the region, none of which are my home country.

Where I have had success:

KL - Non-imm B, July last year, single entry only

Bali - April last year, Non-imm B, single

Penang - 2 years ago, 12 months multi Non-imm B

My experience with KL was fine, they are strict with paperwork but not bad to deal with, plus KL is a great break for me, lots of friends there.

I have dealt with the KL embassy 4-5 times in the past 4 years, never been knocked back.

Good luck

You will find it easier to get your visa in KL than others can because you are Malaysian. Your visa will be free since Thailand and Malaysia have an agreement for visa fee exemption.

KL is not the only l;location where you can apply for visas in Malaysia. There are consulates in Penang and Khota Bharu.

There is also no restriction on which country where you can get your visa.
