Non Imm O/A visa - money in the bank

Featured Replies

I am British and obtained my Non Immigrant multi entry O/A visa at the Thai Embassy in London. The enter before date was 3 Dec 2014 which I did and now have a Nom-Imm Immigration Thailand Re Entry Permit valid until 30 Nov 2015.

About one month before the valid until date of 30 Nov 2015 I believe I can extend/renew/convert to retirement visa/receive permission to stay (not sure of the correct terminology).

I understand I need to show that I have 800,000 THB in a bank and my questions are:

1) Does this 800,000 THB have to be in a Thai Bank?

2) How may months before the application date does this amount have to be in the bank?

3) Could you have the equivalent amount in GBP in a British bank?

4) Instead of the 800,000 can you have a regular pension credit in GBP in a British bank?

1. Yes

2. 2 Months

3. No

4. Yes if it is more than 65,000 Baht a Month.

OR a combination of Pension and Money in Thai bank.

2.22 In the case of retirement:

Each permission shall be granted for no more than one year.

The alien:

(1) Must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).
(2) Must be 50 years of age or over.
(3) Must have evidence of having income of no less than Baht 65,000 per month: or (4) On the filing date, the applicant must have funds deposited in a bank in Thailand of no less than Baht 800,000 for the past three months. For the first year only, the applicant must have proof of a deposit account in which said amount of funds has been maintained for no less than 60 days prior to the filing date: or
(5) Must have an annual earning and fluids deposited with a bank totaling no less than Baht 800,0000 as of the filing date.

But that pension must be listed on a letter from your Embassy in Thailand - just having the bank paperwork is not what immigration will want to see. So you take the paperwork proving pension to UK Embassy and pay them for a letter of pension which you then provide immigration - letter should be current within last six months.
