English.news.cn

LONDON, May 27 (Xinhua) -- A young British Muslim was sentenced six years' imprisonment by a court on Wednesday for trying to travel to Syria to join Islamic State, local media reported.

Zakariya Ashiq, 20, from Coventry, was found guilty on two counts of preparing acts of terrorism at the Old Bailey, the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, in London, according to local media on Wednesday.

Ashiq left Britain on Nov. 6, 2014 and made his way via Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Bulgaria to Jordan.

He was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Nov. 20 after he failed to cross the border from Jordan to Syria.

Never understood that.

If they want to travel there, pay their travel expenses but never let them in again, on more problem far away and off my doorstep.

I agree, revoke their citizenship, let them apply for a new passport with their caliphate that they want so badly.

As I posted on another thread.

This is what he is alleged to have said.

A subsequent examination of his phone revealed recorded conversations with two friends who had allegedly gone to Syria earlier last year.

In them, Ashiq talked to Ali Kalantar and Mohammed Ismail about them helping him to get into Syria, saying the second he got the chance he would do "Ishtishadi (martyrdom) against any ... all these people",

Other WhatsApp messages were read out to the jury. In one he wrote: "There is no life, there's no life without Jihad."

It might be time to move the remaining inhabitants of St Kilda to the mainland and start moving those we cannot deport to St Kilda.

Instead of a soon-to-be dead Jihadist the Western system now has a guy that costs several dozen thousand pounds per year in prison and probably the same later in welfare while still posing a threat after his release !!!

Pure nonsense!

How does that work?

The Jordanians or the Syrians sent him back to Heathrow?

Sorry UK Government, you have it ALL wrong…listen to us (TV subscribers) who know…forget the jailing - allow them to go, but then cancel their passports, entitlement to any government subsistence for them and any family members…but MOST importantly REFUSE them re-entry to the country…easy, no daily cost, no daily worries…
