Sawadee ka everyone,

I'm from Singapore and would like to find out where I can get reliable sources of information on production, imports of feed ingredients (namely, corn, soybean, SBM) into Thailand. the DLD website and Thai customs website do not give updated figures or the statistics I want.

Any info on this would be much appreciated. Kopkhun ka!

Not sure where you are at but if there is sugar cane growing in the area then the mill that processes the cane will sell molasses (molat). Haven't bought any in a year but then I paid B20/kg and had to buy a minimum of 70kg.

Did some of the members of the forum have some experience with the pig and fish feeds made by Danfeed in Buriram?

I will start a new farm in the region soon and want to know if some members tried this pig and fish feed before?

Some good (or bad) info would help me

thanks

As a supplement to Animal Feed

Livestock Growers may want to buy

Rock Phosphate

Calcium Phosphate Dihydrate CaHPO4.2H2O

In it's pure form, according to the chemical formula

it is

Phosphorous 18% w/W

Calcium 23% w/W

There is a powder raw material available here in Thailand

Rock Phosphate

Phosphorous 16%

Calcium 32%

Bagged, I assume 50 kg

B7.00 / kg

Minimum Order 1,000 kg.

It is mined in Lamphun,

I buy it through my fertilizer dealer in Mae Sot.

This makes the mixing of your own feed formulas much more interesting,

because Phosphorous is necessary for fast growth,

and along with Calcium are the primary components of bone.

Phosphorous is also necessary in the formation of muscle.

According to the two comparative percentages,

the Thailand material is higher in Calcium,

most likely in the form of Limestone Calcium Carbonate

To avoid potential confusion,

I have also seen a grey powder material called

Rock Phosphate 0-3-0,

50 kg Bag

B180 / bag

which is evidently the waste material after raw rock phosphate is treated with sulfuric acid,

to extract the Phosphoric Acid.

Fertilizer N-P-K formula is based on N - P2O5 - K2O,

which means that 0-3-0 only has 1.31% actual P

ratioing the molecular weight of P2O5 to the P atomic weight portion alone.

This is not feasible for animal feed,

since animal feeds typically have P in the range of 1.7 to 2.0%,

so that the animal would have to eat huge amounts to get their requirements.

Almost as though eating nothing else.

One more helpful note:

I ran comparative figures on this rock phosphate as a field fertilizer.

If 16-20-0 costs B860 for a 50kg bag

and if 46-0-0 Urea costs B870 per 50 kg bag

then Rock Phosphate 16% P is 1/2.90 the price of the P found in 16-20-0

Before you run out and buy Rock Phosphate to replace your 16-20-0,

bear in mind that rock phosphate is very slow release in the soil.

It is necessary to apply many year's requirement at once,

letting the plants and soil break it down over time.

Acid breaks the Calcium Phosphate,

so growers with acid soils will see faster response.

Basic soils will take time.

If you also need Sulfur in your soil,

the quick solution is to mix sulfuric acid on rock phosphate,

thus releasing the P as Phosphoric acid.

This is how the fertilizer manufacturers do it.

CaHPO4 + H2SO4 => H3PO4 + CaSO4

In the case of this Thailand Rock Phosphate with an excess of Calcium Carbonate,

CaCO3 + H2SO4 => CaSO4 + CO2 + H2O

the resulting compounds are harmless.

Gypsum, Carbon Dioxide, Water

I suppose I deviated from animal feed topic to field fertilizer.

Back to the animals.

If you feed an excess of rock phosphate to animals,

it still ends up in the fertilizer obviously.

Since a pig's stomach digests by acid,

they are a good processor of excessive rock phosphate

to the easily used plant nutrient form

I am told that Molasses costs B8.00 / kg at the Sugar Mill.

They fill your container.

I'm looking for tilapia feed without fish meal. Anyone knows a supplier? Thanks

How to call tilapia feed whitout of fishmeal? Organic feed.

If you like the organic way then try this pdf. It is about organic shrimp farming. But the company in this pdf have also tilapia feed.

http://www.aquaasiapac.com/document-download.php?id=90

If this pdf is wrong. Then searching the web for organic shrimp farming. The company sells organic shrimp feed, maybe sell also tilapia feed.
