Don't understand what you have. If you have a one year extension of stay (from Immigration) from a non immigrant B visa you do not have any 90 day windows and with the re entry permit you are free to come and go as you please. You enter the information from the re entry permit in the visa field of the arrival card.

Now if what you have a really a multi entry non immigrant O visa (from Consulate) (which would provide up to 90 day entry per stay) you are also free to come and go as you please and no re entry permit is required.

NO I dont have an extension of stay visa, but a 1 year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant B Visa. This gives me 90 days per stay when in Thailand. I got my Visa from Sydney. I will exit Thailand next month afetr 60 days to play it safe and re-enter for another 90 days.

Does anyone forsee any problems with the new visa laws ? Or does this only apply for tourist visas ?

Thanks

For thise who want some advice, you can stay and "conduct business" without a work permit. I applied for a 1 year multiple re-entry visa at Thai consulate in Sydney. All I need to do is exit Thailand every 90 days, so WP is not necessary...... is this right ?

Thanks

Well you said you had a multi re entry permit which you do not seem to have so had to clarify that to provide correct advise. I made a typo and second para multi entry non immigrant B visa is what you seem to have and that para is operative. This 90 in 90 out is for non visa entry (those who arrive without a visa or cross a border without a visa and make use of the 30 day entry provision).

My understanding is the new laws are only for people arriving "Visa Exempt", that is, that don't have visas at all.

Er - well - the maths doesn't work, does it ? You're on a 90 day visa and you have a 1 year Re-entry Permit ..... How does that work ?

Does the Re-entry remain valid even after you've checked out at or before the 90 days is up ? Which means the Re-entry permit doesn't have a Visa to support it ? Or - do you mean "can you continue to in/out of country on the Re-entry ? I don't think that'll work either. I'm curious how you got a 1 year Multiple Re-entry on only a 90 day Non-Immigrant Visa ? Or is tha a secret ?! MalcolmL

Yes it does, you have a 1 year Multiple RE-Entry Visa issued from a consulate. This means you can conductbusiness in Thailand and only requirement is you have to leave every 90 days. After 1 year you can renew. so the Visa is current for a year, and reqirement you have to exist every 90 days (The visa has mulyiple re-entry capability for 1 year.....

You can also apply for WP or extension of stay, but I dont see the need, I simply have a weekend in Singapore every 2 or 3 months........

Does this cover it !!

Got it.....

Is “conduct business” what you wrote on the visa application form in the field “Purpose of visit”?

A visa is permission to travel to Thailand.

The entry stamp (admitted...until...) given by the immigration office gives permission to enter Thailand and remain in the country until the indicated date. This is how far the Immigration Bureau is concerned.

Working and work permits are matters for the Labour Department. Whether you need a work permit depends, I guess, on what “business” you conduct and how you “conduct” it. You need to be more specific to get a specific answer here for your particular situation.

Oh, and it’s not a “1 year multiple re-entry visa” but a “multiple-entry non-immigrant visa valid for one year”. You won’t find the word “re-entry” on your visa.

Well, I don't "got it" - but I'm very interested for a friend who is not yet 50 and wants to come to Thailand and stay with his older wife who is over 50 and WHO will apply for a Retiree Status Type O Non Immigrant VISA. They are both financially independent and have all the necessary funds for Retiree Visa - but she doesn't like the thought of him having to slink off every 3 months on a visa run - or whatever. Neither will be working in Thailand so no WP is involved. This sounds like the opposite of what most guys do - but that's how it is.

So, what's the way for them ? Any useful and practicable suggestions are very welcome.

I also have a "Non-immigrant Multiple Entry Type B Visa" which is not on an extention of stay, I also have a work permit running with my current Visa. This Visa entitles me to stay in Thailand for 1 year, 90 days at a time, or rather, I can stay in Thailand 90 days at a time for the duration of the Visa. Just having a Work Permit does not mean I can stay longer than 90 days at a time, the only way this can be achieved is by applying for the extention of stay, and complying with all the paper work requiments (Tax returns etc etc.).

It should be added that to conduct business in the Kingdom, you do require a work permit, the "B" type visa is not enough on its own, and that yes you can apply in person for a work permit, (this has been wrongly quoted in other threads) just as long as the paper work concerning you work permit application is filled in correctly.
